Bahçeşehir University (BAU) American Researches Center, hosted Mr. Antonio Patriota, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, in order to know and introduce Brazil which has become one of the rising powers of the worlds thanks to its growing economy in recent years, in the BAU Beşiktaş Campus.
Mr. Antonio Patriota, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil participated in the conferene held in Fazıl Say hall, and moderated by Nilüfer Narlı the Head of Sociology Department and assessed the “Future of Brazil-Turkey relationships and innovative partnership” issues.
Enver Yücel, the President of Bahçeşehir University Board of Trustees, gave a speech before the conference, and stated that he is happy to host the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, which has the 5th largest economy in the world. “Although we are a university which has been established 14 years ago we have managed to create a strong university profile so far and I want to state that I am quite happy that we are continuing to move in this path with secure steps. Each year we host several statesman in Beşiktaş Campus. I congratulate everyone who has a share in this success.” Enver Yücel stated that Turkey and Brazil have similarities in terms of economic indicators and added that “Brazil has a structure which poses an example for the world with its increasing graphic. I am sure Turkey and world pursue such improvements. I want to congratulate them for such improvements.”
Enver Yücel also stated that the two countries have similarities in terms of the per capita income. He also stated that “Education is the most important issue with regard to provide sustainable development and fair distribution of national income. The most important issue of Brazil and Turkey is the problem in education. There are many subjects we can learn from Brazil and of course we have so many things to teach them. Prior to university entrance exams, in Brazil students have to take an examination before graduating. The universities take notes from the results of the examination which the student took before graduation. I think this system deserves to be appreciated all around to world. Turkey has taken important steps in the field of education in recent years. We want to establish new relationships with Brazil In terms of education and moreover we want to establish a campus in Brazil. We must remember that education lies in the foundation of permanent peace and permanent relationships.”
