BAU Medical Faculty Has Opened

Bahçeşehir University Medical Park Göztepe Hospial Complex, which aims to break several new grounds in Turkish Medical Education, shall make Turkish Medicine the health and science center of the world and Bahçeşehir University Medical School shall make an investment of 50 million dollars for the first year.

Bahçeşehir University (BAU), which has been the window of Turkey opening to international platforms thanks to the investments it made in foreign countries, shall accept students in its medical faculty in the new academic term and has entered into a cooperation agreement with Medical Park, one of the biggest hospital chains of Turkey.

Enver Yücel, the President of Bahçeşehir University Board of Trustees, Muharrem Usta the Board of Directors of Medical Park Hospital Groups, Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın, the Rector of Bahçeşehir University, Prof. Dr. Türker Kılıç the Dean of Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Peter Black the President of World Society of World Neurosurgery Federation, and Prof. Dr. Charles Stiles The Genetics Professor in Harvard University, Dana Farber Cancer Institution participated in the introduction meeting held in Bahçeşehir University (BAU) Medical Park Göztepe Hospital Complex.

Bahçeşehir University Medical Park Göztepe Hospital Complex the product of the cooperation of these two brand both of which are pioneers in their fields; shall enable training doctors who shall serve all around the country, and produce scientists who shall make important inventions to the world of science. This cooperation leaded by BAU and Medical Park Hospitals shall pave the way for important discoveries in medical field. With the execution of the the agreement Medical Park Göztepe Hospital shall serve as an important training-research hospital.

The students who are willing to specialize in medicine and break new grounds in international platform, shall chose BAU TIP and carry out their training and researches in Bahçeşehir University, Medical Park Göztepe Hospital Complex. Besides students shall have the opportunity of gaining international experiences thanks to the cooperation agreements executed with the most important universities of the world.

During their course of study, students shall have the opportunity of making research in Harvard University, Dana Farber Cancer Institution for one year; do clinical internship in Harvard University for one month each year; study and make research in University of Geneva Hearth Health Center; make researches in Yale University Neurogenetics Laboratories; study in University of Florida Anatomy Laboratories; and make biomedical researches in Stanford University. Besides students who shall attend preparation class shall receive their English training in Bahçeşehir Washington DC and Toronto campuses.

Revolutionary Opportunities in Medical Education

Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine provides its students with a revolutionary opportunity in medicine education. With the application of optional medicine all students shall receive the same training in the first two years and afterwards they will follow different paths depending on their goals. The programs included in “optional education”-which is the first application of this program in Turkey-to be chosen at the end of the second year are as follows;

• MD program: (6 years) The aim is to grow up perfect doctors. Students shall be trained as the top class doctors of the country.

• Research oriented MD program: (6+1 years) The goal is training research oriented doctors.  In this program students shall spend one year in important laboratories located in foreign countries (Harvard Dana Farber Cancer Institution, Geneva Hearth Health Enter etc). The success criteria for this specific year is to get one research published on an international magazine. The training period may reduced to 6 years thanks to the time saving periods such as summer schools etc. (including research year)

• MD-PHD Program (6+2 years): The aim of this program is to train doctor-scientists who consider basic and clinical sciences in from researching perspective. The two years of four-year postgraduate training is programmed in medical training and at the end of 6 year period 2 years of thesis-research PHD period is added. Thesis period is completed in cooperated laboratories such as University of Yale-Neurogenetics program; Harvard Dana Farber Cancer Institution Cancer Research Laboratory; Florida University Anatomy Laboratories, University of Geneva  Hearth Health Center with scholarship. The aim of this program is to train specialized scientist and lecturers at international standards.
