Latest Developments in the Design and Development of New Drugs Discussed at an International Congress at BAU
The 8th International BAU Drug Design Congress (BAU-Drug Design Congress 2022), took place at BAU Beşiktaş Campus between 15 - 17 December 2022.

The International BAU Drug Design Congress (BAU-Drug Design Congress 2022), held for the 8th time this year, took place at the BAU Beşiktaş Campus on 15-17 December 2022.

As every year, the 8th International BAU Drug Design Congress hosted renowned scientists from academia and industry this year. Researchers discussed the latest point reached in the discovery and development of new-generation drugs, original drug design and the treatment of major diseases.

At the BAU Drug Design Congress, which has quickly become one of the most prestigious congresses held in this field in the world, up-to-date information was shared this year on the research of scientists whose work has made an impact worldwide. Within the scope of the congress, information was provided on drug discoveries in Türkiye and around the world, our place in global drug R&D, projections for the next 10 years, innovations made to carry out drug discovery work in a shorter time, and the virtual screening of drug candidate molecules.

The main topics and headings highlighted at the press conference of the congress, which brought together our leading scientists working on drug design and the discovery of new drugs abroad and in Türkiye, were as follows:

  • Drug Discovery through Text Mining
  • Artificial drug molecules and clinically oriented studies
  • Hopes for treatment in various cancers, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, ALS, MS and schizophrenia
  • Rare diseases and drug studies
  • Targeted therapies that reduce side effects
  • Biomedical applications beyond drugs
  • Stem cell studies
  • Natural molecules
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence Approaches in the Discovery of New Drugs
  • Virtual molecule screening
  • Drug Repositioning Studies
