This Tuesday, Nov 1, ArchiDesign Talks’22-23 will continue with Gökhan Karakuş.
Gökhan Karakuş is the founder of Emedya Design. He was educated at Columbia University and Vassa College where he specialised in the history and theory of architecture. Mr. Karakuş works as an architectural critic, theorist, and designer and has written ‘Turkish Touch in Design’ (2007) and ‘Turkish Architecture Now’ (2009). His main interests are localization in design and modernism, architecture, and city planning. He has worked as a nominator and supervisor for the Ağa Khan Architecture Awards and the Mies van der Rohe Europe Modern Architecture Awards. He has given lectures at Istanbul Technical University, Bilgi University, and Politecnico di Milano. Presently he is studying and preparing monographs of the work of Beirut architect Nabil Gholam and Turkish designer Tanju Özelgin. These involve advanced design studies related to architectural strategies for slums, and the integration of Middle Age Islamic architectural mathematics into computer-aided design.
