Short Film Marathon at BAU Comes to an End
Film Jam event, which was organized for the second time by Bahçeşehir University School of Communication Department of Film and Television, has ended.

The Film Jam event, organized for the second time by the Department of Cinema and Television of the Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Communication with the aim of giving prospective high school students their first short filmmaking experience, came to an end with a 48-hour production process, 6 hours of training and, finally, the short films produced by teams made up of film crews.

Organized for the second time to meet prospective students of the Department of Cinema and Television and give them their first experience of film production, Film Jam began at our faculty on the Galata Campus. The first day of the event, which opened with a speech by Prof. Dr. Nilay Ulusoy, Head of the Department of Cinema and Television, continued with accelerated short film production training sessions for our students.

Through workshops that began with the classes Storytelling in Filmmaking by Assist. Prof. Dr. Tuna Tetik and B-Movie Production by Assist. Prof. Dr. Erkan Büker and lasted two days, prospective students were able to produce their own short films. Having received basic training in shooting, editing and narrative over two days, the high school students both took their first step into the world of cinema and television at the fantasy-themed Film Jam within 48 hours and left our university having shot their first films.

The training module of Film Jam, whose workshop sessions ended with the classes Fantasy and Cinema by Prof. Dr. Kaya Özkaracalar and Digital Camera Operations by Assist. Prof. Dr. Tolga Hepdinçler, continued with the Director's Workshop featuring Can Evrenol, known for films such as Baskın, Peri and Housewife. Director Can Evrenol, known for works such as Hakan: Muhafız, Baskın, Peri and Housewife, was the masterclass guest in the session moderated by Prof. Dr. Nilay Ulusoy. Sharing with our students that each project he has realized was once a dream, and his thoughts on how a dream can come true, Can Evrenol emphasized that, above all, one must believe in one's own ideas. Telling our students not to be afraid of being experimental and to try to break the patterns deemed "impossible," Evrenol stated that anyone involved in cinema should first build intellectual depth across many different disciplines and then not be afraid of being different.

On the second day of Film Jam, our prospective students, who split into groups and began writing scripts, carried out the shooting and editing of the fantasy-themed Film Jam under the mentorship of undergraduate students from the Department of Cinema and Television. Having prepared their equipment and moved on to turning their scripts into films, the teams scouted locations and put their creative ideas into practice.

Together with our prospective Cinema and Television students, who produced great work within 48 hours at the fantasy-themed Film Jam, we completed two days full of effort, enjoyment and productivity by watching the groups' films together. Accompanied by our head of department and faculty members, who congratulated each team and presented their certificates of participation, we left another Film Jam behind.
