Digital Art at BAU Future Campus
The "Digital Art on Campus" project meets students at the Bahçeşehir University Future Campus on 26-30 April 2022.
The "Digital Art on Campus" project, realized under the main sponsorship of Akbank Sanat in cooperation with BASE and 42 İstanbul, and organized for the second time this year with the support of LG OLED, Monster Notebook, Sonorous and AXA Sigorta, is touring the campuses of Bahçeşehir University, Boğaziçi University, Özyeğin University and Bilgi University between 4 and 30 April 2022.
The project, which will bring the works of digital artists from various parts of the world to campuses, aims to be a source of inspiration for university students with its exhibition and rich side events. The artists participating in the exhibition, Can Büyükberber, Cezar Mocan, ha:ar, Harshit Agrawal, Jérémie Bellot, Max Seeger, Oddviz, Osman Koç and Quayola, share with their audiences the wide range of digital art that allows for different forms of expression.
The exhibition features AI artist and human-computer interaction (HCI) researcher Harshit Agrawal, whose works have been exhibited at the world's leading art events, festivals and museums and have entered important collections; Cezar Mocan, who won the 2021 Lumen Prize in Art and Technology with his work "Arcadia Inc." featured in the exhibition; Jérémie Bellot, one of France's leading artists, founder of the Strasbourg makerspace "Ateliers Eclairés" and co-founder of the "Château de Beaugency, Digital Art Center" project; and Golden Nica Ars Electronica award-winning artist Quayola. Max Seeger, who continues his studies at the Würzburg Faculty of Design, takes part with "Everything is Growing Everything is Math", which has won awards at many festivals and competitions including Lumen, ED Awards and Sci-On!; also exhibited are works by Can Büyükberber, whose works have been shown at art organizations around the world such as Ultramarin, Enlighten Festival and Miami Art Week; "Impossible Sculptures No. 28" by the artist duo ha:ar, exhibited at the London-based JD Malat Gallery, whose works have been shown at venues including GAD Giudecca Art District in Venice and Scalo Lambrate in Milan; and the work Kreuzberg Shedding by Oddviz, an Istanbul-based collective founded by Çağrı Taşkın, Erdal İnci and Serkan Kaptan.
The Ars Electronica Animation Festival is also part of the exhibition. The program, featuring works by animation makers under the age of 19 selected through an open call, offers the chance to watch films by children and young people from very different age groups.
The exhibition is accompanied by an extensive program of talks and workshops. Inviting participants to reflect on and discuss the present and future of the digital at this meeting of technology and art, the project aims to convey through art the agenda that directly or indirectly affects the age we live in, such as artificial intelligence, data, animation, blockchain and social media.
