Internship of BAU Health Sciences Students in Germany Has Started
The internship of BAU Faculty of Health Sciences students has started in Germany, where they will experience professional practices of different cultures.

The internship of students studying health sciences who want to seize career opportunities in Germany has started. Through the internship, where they will experience professional practice in different cultures, Bahçeşehir University (BAU) students will also be able to receive language training.

According to the European Labor Market 2020 report, nursing staff are the most needed occupational group in 18 countries, led by the United Kingdom and Germany, followed by physicians and healthcare personnel, respectively. While there is serious demand from Germany for healthcare personnel from Türkiye, the first requirement set by Germany is German language proficiency. Taking action in this context, BAU supports its students who want to continue their education in Germany and find internships and jobs there.

Accordingly, the internship in Germany has started for 15 students from the Nursing, Nutrition, and Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation departments of the BAU Faculty of Health Sciences. The internship, which aims to help students experience professional practice in different cultures and gain employment opportunities, will last one semester. BAU students will carry out all their professional practice in Germany accompanied by mentor advisors. In addition, successful students who obtain internship opportunities will be able to strengthen their language skills by taking intensive German courses.

"Our Students Are Taking Intensive German Courses"

Stating that the greatest demand for healthcare personnel from Türkiye comes from Germany, BAU Faculty of Health Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Fatma Eti Aslan said that this demand stems from the Turkish population in Germany and the older generation's lack of German. Aslan said: "The first Turkish generation in Germany does not speak German, and this generation now has chronic illnesses. They currently need physiotherapy and nursing care, but they do not know a single word of German. Therefore, the healthcare professionals Germany prefers most are in physiotherapy and nursing. On the other hand, the number of physiotherapy, nutrition and nursing students in Türkiye who speak German is small. The biggest obstacle to building a career in Europe is language education. For this reason, as the BAU Faculty of Health Sciences, we offer free German courses to our senior students and graduates. Our students are taking intensive German courses. In view of the global shortage of healthcare workers, it is essential to implement a number of practices to strengthen students' background. We are carrying out this work within the framework of our collaborations with universities in Germany.
