Dear students,
Bahcesehir University, a leader in Hybrid Education, has taken important steps to make sure that you can live your university life in the best possible way through its inclusive course designs catering for the different needs of each academic field as well as its infrastructure and equipment. In accordance with the advisory decisions on 7 January, 2022 by our university’s Covid-19 Commission, the decision of the University Senate dated 09.09.2021 and numbered 2021/21/04 stating that final, make-up and additional exams will be held face-to-face in reduced sized classes in our campuses has been revised. Being valid for the Fall Semester of 2021-2022 Academic Year only, it has been decided that Final Exam Procedures will be implemented as stated below and within this framework, each Faculty / Vocational School / Graduate Schools will specify their own procedures for their final exams.
The decisions are as follows:
- The final exams of fully online courses (through distance education) will be held online.
- In order to reduce the number of students in our campuses due to concurrent exam sessions; the final exams of the courses (except for project and application-practice lab courses) whose number of enrolled students are over 300, will be held online. The final exams of the hybrid courses will be held face-to-face in reduced class sizes. However, the instructor and the related academic unit administration may also decide to make an evaluation through process-based evaluations such as projects, take-home exams. Likewise, exams such as thesis monitoring and thesis defense can be held online on condition that they will be conducted through MS Teams and recorded.
- According to Bahçeşehir University Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degree Education and Examination, make-up exams can only be given once. Yet, due to the pandemic circumstances, being limited to the Fall Semester of 2021-2022 only, students who have missed the make-up exam and whose excuses have been accepted by the related academic unit, will be given a second make-up to lower the anxiety about Covid. The updated schedule of the make-up exams will be announced in the Academic Calendar. In addition, the schedule for double major, minor, and internal transfers (admission with GPA) has been revised as well.
These decisions may be revised in accordance with the current circumstances, proclamations by the Higher Education Council and state authorities.
