1) What is the R (revoke) grade?
· R (Revoke) grade is a special grade peculiar only to the spring semester and summer school of the 2019-2020 academic year and the whole 2020-2021 academic year. It is a grade that provides you with the option of processing the course(s) that you received an (F) or an (NA) as if you never took them in the pertinent semester without affecting your current term grade point average (GPA) or your cumulative grade point average (CGPA) and proceed according to your own aspirations.
· In other words, it is a grade that we have identified to the system as a course(s) that you have to repeat later but do not want it/them to interfere with the calculation of your average when the grade(s) you received in that semester is/are included.
2) What is the S (Successful) grade?
· The grade S (Successful) is only a special grade peculiar only to the spring semester and summer school of the 2019-2020 academic year and the whole 2020-2021 academic year. It is a grade that substitutes a (C) or a higher grade for masters or a (B) or a higher grade for a doctorate degree, and ensures that the course(s) you have that grade meets the national credit and ECTS credits and the required number of courses in the category of the course(s), without affecting your CGPA and GPA for the current term.
3) Which and how many of the courses can I convert to S (Successful) and/or R (Revoke) grade?
· Graduate students can convert a maximum of 2 (two) courses into an (S) grade in total in the fall and spring semesters of the 2020-2021 academic year and in the summer school.
• This conversion privilege for a total of 2 (two) courses can be used in one semester of the 2020-2021 academic year if so desired, or can be spread to other semesters within the academic year depending on the preference of the student. (For example, while a student chooses to use all of his 2 rights in the Fall semester and not make any conversion(s) in the other semesters, another student may not make any conversion at all in the Fall semester and reserve his / her right to return to the Spring semester and summer school. What needs to be born in mind is that the right of the student to convert to (S) is limited to 2 (two) in total and thus the student foregoes the right to make any amendments in the future.
• At graduate level, conversion to a (R) grade is applicable to all courses with (F) and (NA) grades in the relevant academic semester, without any restriction on the number of courses.
• The number of courses mentioned in this article is the maximum number, and students who do not exercise this right within the specified period cannot make a claim in the subsequent academic years regarding their overlooked conversions.
4) How and when can I convert to (R) and (S) grade?
· Conversion processes are held on the dates to be announced to students after the make-up exams in 2020-2021 Fall and Spring semesters, and after the final exams in summer school.
· The student can perform the grade conversion process for the grades of the courses in the relevant semester via an application to be activated on the st.bau.edu.tr page.
· No conversion will be made by a petition, except for the R / S conversion periods announced in the academic calendar.
· Conversion transactions for previous semesters cannot be made for any reason.
5) Do I have to repeat the course whose grade I had converted to an (R) ?
· The course whose grade you previously converted to an (R) is a course that must be repeated in the forthcoming relevant academic semester. Do not forget that you have to repeat the course whose grade you converted to an (R) during the very first semester it becomes available!
· If this course happens to be in the elective category, you can substitute another elective course in the same category for that course whose grade you had converted to (R) in a forthcoming relevant academic semester.
6) If the course whose grade I had converted to an (R) happens to be a repeat course, how does this affect my cumulative grade point average?
· If the course you had converted into an (R) grade is a course that you are repeating, your CGPA will be affected only by the unconverted last grade you received for that course before the conversion.
· If you do not have a grade other than (R) in the previous semesters, the relevant course will not be included in the calculation of the CGPA or the GPA of the current term.
7) I have taken a course from a different university for the summer school. Do I retain the right to convert the grade I received to (S) for the course(s)?
· For courses taken from a different university and for which course adjustment has been made for the summer school, an (S) conversion can be made for once only if a petition is submitted to the Registrar's Office within the week following the adjustment, limited by the status of your conversion rights.
8) I am an exchange student. How can I use my (R) and (S) conversion rights?
· In the 2020-2021 Academic year, you will be able to use your (R) and (S) grade conversion rights for one time only for the semester(s) whose course transfers have been adjusted within the week following the adjustment. For this, when your exchange program is over, you should contact your academic unit secretary and submit a petition.
· Students who transferred courses taken from different universities other than exchange programs and summer school cannot benefit from this right.
9) May I apply for a resit examination (amnesty) for a course whose grade I had converted to a (R)?
You may not apply for a resit examination for a course whose grade you had converted to (R).
(Resit Examination: Examination given to students who have passed all the other courses but one.)
10) Is it possible to repeat a credited course, whose grade I had converted to a (S), for receiving a higher grade in the forthcoming semesters?
· Students can repeat the courses they have converted to (S) grades in the following semester. In case of such a repetition, the grading of that course will be subject to the governing rules of that semester.
11) Will the courses whose grades were converted to (R) be recorded on my transcript?
· Yes, all the courses whose grades have been converted will appear on your transcript.
12) Will I be subjected to a different set of rules when I take the courses whose grades I have converted to (R) in subsequent semesters/years?
· Under normal conditions, all the rules applied to all the courses repeated are valid for the courses whose grades have been converted to (R).
13) Will the fact that I have carried out the conversion process to (S) or (R) affect my academic ranking?
· Graduation success rankings made within the body of Bahçeşehir University are made according to the cumulative grade point average, as stated in the relevant directive. Only, in the ranking of students with equal CGPAs, the number of courses converted to (S) grade in the Fall semester of the 2020-2021 Academic year and afterwards is taken into consideration. The lesser number of courses converted to (S) grade is given priority in the ranking, then other criteria in the directive are implemented.
· "S" grades converted in 2019-2020 Spring semester and Summer school are not considered for the ranking, since no restrictions or announcements were made during the relevant semester.
· Do not forget that other universities, institutions or organizations may have different success criteria of their own.
14) How can I decide how many / which courses I should convert to (R) and (S)? Any suggestions?
· Before making any conversion attempts, you should primarily examine the categories, credits and quantities of the courses you need to complete in the future by referring to the graduation requirements application. We strongly recommend that you consult your academic advisor on how this choice will affect your success in the future.
· At the time of grade conversion, you should understand how the conversion you seek will affect your CGPA by activating the simulation on the st.bau.edu.tr page before finalizing your grade conversion.
· You should remember that when you click the "Confirm" button and approve the change, you will be deemed to have accepted your change and how that affects your grade point average. After this process, there are no turning backs or undo’s.
· Graduate students would have expended 1 (one) right for each (S) grade converted. You have the right to convert a total of 2 (two) (S) grades in the 2020-2021 academic year. Once your rights are depleted, they cannot be replenished.
15) I have questions related to grade conversion. Where or to whom should I apply?

· You can also call 444 28 64 for all your questions or submit them through the help.bau.edu.tr page.
