Important Information About New Measures Taken Due to the Pandemic

Dear Faculty Members and Students,

According to the decisions announced by our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after the Presidential Cabinet Meeting regarding the pandemic, which has affected the whole world and, as everywhere else, has had a negative impact on life in our country, curfew hours for young people under 20 have been set as 13:00-16:00, the public and private sectors are to adopt reduced and flexible working arrangements, and education at educational institutions will continue online until 31 December. On these grounds, it has become necessary for our university to take a number of decisions as well.

As Bahçeşehir University, subject to the work of the Scientific Advisory Board on the pandemic and to any statements and guidance from the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the following decisions have been taken for the period between 18 November 2020 and 31 December 2020:

· Until 31 December 2020, all teaching activities, student events, student club activities, conferences, panels and meetings have been moved online.

· Whether our academics use their homes or offices to deliver their online courses will be left to their preference. Our academics may continue their activities either from home or from our campuses, as they wish.

· Practical courses, workshops, laboratory work, all applied studies and internships that started in hybrid format will continue online until 31 December.

· As previously announced, all our exams will be held online.

· All our campuses will remain open. In line with the Presidential decision, students under the age of 20 may use our university's physical facilities between 13:00 and 16:00 by declaring their HES code. Students outside this age group may use the campuses throughout the day.

· BAU Barbaros Library will continue to serve, open only to Bahçeşehir University students.

· All cafeterias and restaurants on campus will suspend their services until 31 December.

· You will be informed about the period after 31 December in line with the assessments of the Scientific Advisory Board and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

We would like to emphasize that our first priority during this period is the health and safety of all stakeholders of the BAU family. Our students, parents and academics will be informed by the relevant faculties and schools about courses, practical work, exams and all other academic matters related to this period.

We look forward to seeing you in good health.
