The Contributions of Jewish Scientists to Turkish Universities were discussed in Bahçeşehir University.
Bahçeşehir University hosted an important conference which shall enlighten the history. In the conference held under cover of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and with the cooperation of Bahçeşehir University and Aladdin Project the contributions of the German and Australian scientists who fled to Turkey due to Nazi torture, to the modernization of Turkish Universities were discussed.
Abe Radkin, the Executer Director of Aladdin Project and Sami Herman, the President of Turkish Jewish Community also attended the conference and Irina Bokova, the General Director of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); Anne-Marie Revcolevski, the President of Aladdin Project; Anna Lindh, the consultant of Moroccan King; Andre Azoulay, the president of Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures; Adnan Kifayat, the Private Consultant and Ambassador of Hillary Clinton, the minister of USA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Task Force for Holocaust Education Ambassador Ertan Tezgör, Dr. Samuel Pisar UNESCO Honorary Ambassador, Holocaust Education Private Ambassador and Zülfi Livaneli the goodwill ambassador of UNESCO made the opening speech.
Enver Yücel, the president of BAU Board of Trustees stated in his speech that “The role of universities is not and must not be only transferring science. We are in various activities to make contributions in peace.”
Şenay Yalçın stated that “While speaking of the often stamped flowers of merits of humanity, friendship, cooperation, art, science and hope we shall face both the white and black reality of human. As BAU we are happy to reveal the unknown with via the documentary ‘Turkish Passport’, which was prepared with an objective perspective and social responsibility.”
