Bahcesehir University became a member of the Make Impact Consortium, where 20 universities from different countries of the world came together under the leadership of MIT. Thus, BAU students will have the opportunity to attend the summits and education seminars to be held on 4 different continents and to implement research projects with member universities.
With the agreements and collaborations it has entered into, Bahcesehir University has given its students the opportunity to study in different locations of the world and became a member of the Make Impact Consortium, where 20 universities from different countries of the world came together under the leadership of MIT. The consortium will serve many purposes such as providing network for all member universities in order to stay in touch with each other through the same system, and facilitating continuous communication between the students and academics, and project production. With this membership, BAU students will now have the opportunity to participate in mini-master certificates, special trainings, summits and education seminars to be held in 20 different cities of the world, and to realize research projects with member universities. In addition, the interdisciplinary laboratories and all the BAU facilities will be provided to the universities in the consortium on the BAU Future Campus. Thus, not only BAU students, but also students from all over the world will be part of the BAU family. Therefore, Turkey is also added to the member states such as the United States, France, Australia, Japan, Colombia, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Israel, and Canada in the consortium.
“WE WANT TO MAKE WAY FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE IN ORDER TO BE GLOBALIZED”
Within the scope of the cooperation, a signing ceremony for the membership procedures was held with the participation of Prof. Dr. Sirin Karadeniz, the President of BAU, and Saana McDaniel, the Senior Programme Manager from Make Impact Consortium. Before the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Sirin Karadeniz stated that “In addition to the university exam we have started with ApplyBAU, we have drawn another way for young people who want to be at the university with their dreams, projects, companies they have established with the patents they have obtained through the products they have developed. Thus, we include incredibly successful young people in our university and create and design different areas for our students such as specific laboratory workspaces and incubation centers under the mentorship of our instructors. The start-ups emerged here has become well-known and existed patents in Turkey. However, our aim is that we want to make way for our young people to the global world through Make Impact Consortium and MIT. They have not any deficiencies compared to the other young people in other countries. With the ideas they developed, we want them to present their projects to the world by becoming member this university and business network. We want their projects to take place in different places in the world, we want them to establish companies, and if they want to change something, they develop not only with their friends at the university but also with friends from other countries within MIT.”
“WE PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE 4 DIFFERENT CONTINENTS TO COME TOGETHER IN THE SAME PROJECT”
Saana McDaniel said that “I enjoy and like the university where I came to for the signing ceremony and that young people are about to make very exciting initiatives. I want to emphasize that there are many things which need to be learnt from different universities in different locations of the world. Thus, BAU will add a lot to the consortium. McDaniel also stated that “I had the opportunity to visit the university and had the opportunity to see very exciting things which have been realized in the campus. I think we can achieve more than this. In consequence of our negotiations, we talked about
how important it is to have an area for the students who are enthusiastic about entrepreneurship to realize the prototypes of their dreams, and thus, we agreed with BAU to take serious and important steps for a collaboration that students can benefit 24/7. The consortium currently has several universities from 4 different continents. As MIT, we are open to support not only BAU but also all the universities within our organization. We communicate with our members from different locations of the world through an application we have developed. Students from the universities involved can also create their own profiles on the application, and if these students have an idea, for example establishing a company or start-up, they will have the opportunity to establish their own companies globally by talking and exchanging ideas with the students not only from Istanbul and Bahcesehir University but also from the 4 different continents involved in the consortium. Currently, the consortium has included universities in the network. As the second stage, we will start to include the company partners. Thus, we aim not only to provide our students with the opportunity to communicate with other universities, but also to provide internship and job opportunities with other big companies that will become members of the network.”
