Annual “Global Trade Summit” was held in Brandeis University, one of the leading Universities in USA on April the 5th 2012. This year the subject of the summit was “Expanding Exportation and International Partnership”. Turkish collaborative of the summit Enver Yücel, the president of Bahçeşehir University Board of Trustee gave a speech and invited the participant countries to make investment in Turkey.
CEOs of approximately 150 companies from USA and other several countries, economists, entrepreneurs and participants from different countries attended the “International Trade Summit” hosted in Brandeis University of Boston. Deval Patrick, the Governor of Massachusetts made a speech in the summit. Governor Patrick talked about the work opportunities in USA and Massachusetts and said “Massachusetts is an attractive region for business purposes when considered its education, innovativeness and infrastructure potential. The state has an educated work power and the entrepreneur custom developed here attracts innovative business branches”.
Subjects such as “Business Opportunities in Korea and Asia Region”, “Business Opportunities in South America”, “Working with Europe”, Business Opportunities in Germany and England”, “Exportation Financing”, “Foreign Investors”, “Working with Partners and Suppliers” were discussed as well as Turkey, Brazil, India and Israel as developing markets.
“THE MEDIUM TERM TARGET OF TURKEY IS AFRICA”
In “Developing Markets and Turkey” panel Mehmet Kasapoğlu, Prime Ministry Consultant was in charge. Murat Lütem, Boston Consul General, Begüm Özdoğularlı, CEO of Focus Education Center, and Enver Yücel Bahçeşehir University President of Board of Trustee participated in the panel as speakers. Yücel stated that he has made significant achievements with regard to entrepreneurship and innovativeness recently. Yücel; “My country Turkey has become the leading light of the world in recent years. Innovators and entrepreneurs are significantly assisted in Turkey now. Two days ago I was guest in Harvard University, I stated it there too. When I was senior in high school I started my business in training center with two rooms. Now the number of the institutions is 200. 150.000 students are trained in these institutions. Seven years ago I established the Fulbright institution in Washington DC. Colleges followed them. Now the number of the colleges are approximately 30. Later I established Bahçeşehir University in 1998. It has turned out to be an institution with 13.000 students by the Bosporus in Istanbul. The most significant characteristic of our university is its recognition of international relations and having relations with approximately 180 universities all around the world. Now I want to increase the number of these institutions in various regions around the world especially in USA.”
Yücel stated that “In my opinion education will be the pioneer of change and development in the world. Education plays significant role in development of international relations and trade. For instance Turkey’s midterm target is Africa. As an entrepreneur I was thinking to myself about what to do and made my mind. We shall award scholarship one or two students from all African countries and provide them with high quality education. Because we can enhance the contact and relation through people. The better these relations become the more developed commercial relations will be. The great luck of us entrepreneurs in the last decade is the current government in charge, which provides us with all facilities. We see a consistent structure. Private business sector is always leaded up. Of course our path is cleared too and our government supports us in all terms for improving international relations.
“INVEST IN TURKEY”
The next improvements in Turkey will be in technology sector. We have 17 million students and our government made a decision. Ever student will be given a tablet computer. Of course this will lead up the improvement of various sectors. My suggestion for you is to invest in these sectors. This must be considered as a significant business opportunity for technology, software companies and education substance providers. A huge sector will be established and these tablets shall be provided for all students in four years. That’s why we will be in Boston and Palo Alto regions. We want to develop technology. I say that we can achieve such ventures and developments together. I am the president of non-governmental organizations and established “World Education Entrepreneurs Foundation”.
