International Atlantic Economic Society gathered worldwide academicians and economists in Istanbul. During the conferences and panels hosted by Bahçeşehir University, Economist Alberto Alesina from Harvard University made a speech.
Bahçeşehir University, School of Economics and Administrative Sciences is hosting 73rd International Atlantic Economy Society (IAES). In the conference is held under the presidency of Economist Alberto Alesina from Harvard University and Reinhard Neck from Klagenfurt University, economists from all over the world gathered in Istanbul to discuss new internationally produced approaches. Turkish Specialists, academicians and economists including Central Bank Vice President Turalay Kenç attended the conference which hosted specialists from approximately fifty countries
Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın, the rector of Bahçeşehir University gave the opening speech of the conference. Yalçın stated that they are proud of hosting one of the most important economy conferences in the world in Bahçeşehir University located in the heart of Istanbul which is the center of the world and continued her speech with following words ; “In the 73rd International Conference organized by Atlantic Economic Society hosted by Bahçeşehir University the world economy shall be discussed in detail and economic dimensions of globalization shall be examined. I want to thank more than 300 economists and participant from more than 40 countries in your presence for being here and sharing their knowledge and ideas with us.
Today it is impossible to stay unaffected from prevailing of world economy; globalization and its reflections on economy. It has been rather important to be able to think and move globally in today’s new world where competition increases and deepen day by day. It is obvious that every single financial crisis breaking out in Euro and USA regions several issues ranging between stability, investment, exportation, expansion, production, consumption, budget, savings, inflation, income per capita and current transactions shall be experienced in a global scale.
I believe that a more balanced transformation shall be realized by interiorizing in other words by internalizing global developments with local dynamics. The experiences gained from previous crisis, crisis management capability, vitality, flexibility and ability to stand against difficulties of Turkey affects this process in a positive way. We have strong brands which have the potential of engaging in new markets in every business sectors. We also occupy an important position in the manufacturing sector in the region. Turkey’s drawing the attraction of global companies’ gains a meaning in this sense.” And added “After the crisis broke out in 2011 and thanks to pursuant reforms Turkey’s growth performance gets better. In this era when world economy struggles with consecutive crises, it makes me proud to host this conference which gathers elegant participants in my country which presents a comparatively better economy.
