Prof. Dr. Şirin Karadeniz Appointed as the New President of BAU

Under the appointment decision signed by the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prof. Dr. Şirin Karadeniz has been appointed President of Bahçeşehir University. The appointment decision was published in the Official Gazette.

Prof. Dr. Şirin Karadeniz, who has served as Dean of the BAU Faculty of Educational Sciences since 8 March 2017, took over the post from Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın, who completed his term after serving as President for two consecutive terms. The recipient of the Successful Woman Educator of the Year award in 2016 in an initiative carried out in partnership with Microsoft and KAGİDER, Karadeniz has taken part in numerous national and international projects with the World Bank and the European Union.

Stating that, as a scientist, she enjoys producing through research and projects and working for the benefit of society, Prof. Dr. Şirin Karadeniz said, "I am proud to have the opportunity to lead our university as President from now on at BAU, where I have enjoyed guiding my students in designing their futures through my courses and thesis supervision, and where I have been happy to work with all members of our university as an administrator at various levels. I have full confidence and belief that, thanks to the effective connection of our innovative, pioneering, entrepreneurial, global, agile and human-centered philosophy in research, education and value creation with our culture of free thought, respect for differences, collective intelligence and team spirit, we will lead our university to its goals together."

ABOUT PROF. DR. ŞİRİN KARADENİZ

Holding a bachelor's degree in Computer Systems Education, a master's degree in Computer Education and a PhD in Educational Technology, Prof. Dr. Karadeniz has given courses, training, seminars and workshops on the integration of innovative technologies into education, coding and robotics instruction, and STEM, and has served as a manager, researcher, expert and consultant in national and international projects in these fields with TÜBİTAK, the Ministry of National Education, UNICEF, the World Bank and the European Union. Prof. Dr. Karadeniz received the Successful Woman Educator of the Year award in the Women Leaders in Technology competition, held for the first time in 2016 in partnership with Microsoft and KAGİDER, and the BAU Social Impact Award in 2018 for her contributions to education in our country. Prof. Dr. Karadeniz has served as a Member of the TÜSİAD Education Working Group, Board Member of the Future of Education Association, Chair of the Innovative Education and Research Center (YEGAM), Member of the Executive Board of Bahçeşehir Uğur Educational Institutions, Founding Director of the BAU Learning and Teaching Center, and Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences.
