Animation Summer Certificate Program

On 1-12 July 2019, the Bahçeşehir University Department of Cartoon and Animation is organizing an animation summer certificate program with South Korean-Canadian Prof. Namkook Lee*, who has previously been a guest at ANIMIST, worked for many years as an animator at Disney and is a respected name in animation education in South Korea.

FAR AWAY SO CLOSE ANIMATION WITHOUT BORDERS

On 1-12 July 2019, the Bahçeşehir University Department of Cartoon and Animation is organizing an animation summer certificate program with South Korean-Canadian Prof. Namkook Lee, who has previously been a guest at ANIMIST, worked for many years as an animator at Disney and is a respected name in animation education in South Korea.

Who Can Apply:

Participants aged 15+ with basic drawing and computer skills. South Korea, where the development of animation education and technology is highly valued and which is home to major international animation festivals such as SICAF, an animation center and an animation museum, has long been an important part of the global animation and gaming industry. It is home to countless character designs integrated into everyday public life such as Tayo and Larva, the webtoon, a very popular form of storytelling in the virtual world, feature-length animations with an import volume of nearly 600 million dollars according to 2015 data, and animated series and games such as Pororo the Little Penguin, Pucca and Kakao Friends.

Far Away So Close: Animation Without Borders Summer School, first held in Istanbul in 2017, was organized in 2018 by the Bahçeşehir University Department of Cartoon and Animation and the Keimyung University Department of Video and Animation in the South Korean cities of Daegu and Busan. Undergraduate and graduate students of Cinema and Television, Photography and Video, Communication Design and Game Design took part in these summer schools. The summer school aimed to develop an original form of expression by blending traditional arts and local cultural elements with animation.

Application deadline: 15 June 2019

The program quota is 25 participants.

Participants will receive a certificate at the end of the program.

The language of the program is English.
