Bahçeşehir University as an institution investing significantly in social sciences education and gives special importance to education and research in the field of history. In the scope of this investment and attention, this graduate program, through which university will provide education in European and Ottoman history at a graduate level, is a significant step. One of the objectives of this initiative is adding a dimension of comparison to the existing history programs that study the societies’ pasts. This course, by incorporating a comparison between Ottoman and European history, aims to widen the students’ vision and enrich them socially and culturally.
Besides giving the students a foundation of Ottoman history, the program also aims to provide the necessary background that makes a comparative study possible. In that respect, a methodological framework, which is imperative for carrying out a historical research, is an important aspect of this course.
