Another event hosted by BUART has met its audience. Demet and Dinçer Güngörür’s exhibition titled “Two Artistis in Sculpture, Two Different Angles” has attracted a lot of attention.
“Sculpture is a Work of Resistance”
The artists, who expressed their preference for working on female figures because they are esthetic, use stone as their material for its warmth and high quality. Demet Güngörür, who enjoys most the difficult nature of the stone, said:”Sometimes stone shapes me and sometimes I command it. It is a great feeling to put up a fight with something, especially being a woman.”
Dinçer Güngörür, who described art as an incurable sickness, said that he does not consider himself alive outside his atelier when he is not sculpting. He continued: “We are silencing all the negative thoughts in our heads and working. Sculpting is not something that you can do if you do not love it”
The couple expressed their pleasure for being in Bahçeşehir University, where they consider it to be an art-loving environment, and their exhibition is open till Wednesday
