Job Search Tips from a Microsoft Veteran

Bahçeşehir University hosted Lutz Ziob, the General Manager of Microsoft Learning Worldwide. The conference was organized by Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Communication and by Wissen Akademie, which provides education through the CO-OP programs.
 
The key theme of the conference was the increasing importance of certificate programs worldwide and their benefits on personal development. Speaking at the event, Ziob focused on the programs that can prove more effective in job hunting and gave important tips on the programs that will be in demand in the future.
 
Drawing from the words of Nelson Mandela, who said, “Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world”, he expressed confidence that the Bahçeşehir-Wissen-Microsoft union will play an important role in achieving great things.
 
Stretching the Boundaries of Imagination
 
Zeib talked to the participants about the range of products in Microsoft’s portfolio and encouraged the use of them. When speaking about the most recent of these products, he said “We are still at the start of our journey. Bill Gates is a mind full of foresight. Even so, he could not have imagined where we are today. My foresight is quite strong as well, but I too find it difficult to envisage the stage where software and hardware technology will be in 10-20 years. Today we are on the verge of becoming a part of this technology in three dimensions with sound and body. We therefore need new skills. You should definitely participate in the certificate programs, which will provide you with these skills.
 
You need to be Unique to Get the Job
 
Ziob continued his speech by saying, “We, in the IT sector, will need to employ many more people in the future. You will join the workforce in 2-3 years. You need to be unique to go beyond a technology that is moving incredibly fast. You should know that in the hiring process or when determining promotions, the candidates who attended these programs will be given priority.

Ziob added that the certification and training courses, which are provided by Wissen Akademie on Java Programming, Server Management (Windows Server 2008 and Linux), Microsoft .NET Programming, C++ and Object Oriented Programming, iPhone Programming and iPhone/iPad Application Development, offered free access to its participants to programs worth tens of thousands of dollars. Ziot also told that the same was available for people who were looking to set up their own businesses and, furthermore, this offer was for three years.
