World Education Entrepreneurs Society is founded by Enver Yücel, the Chairman of TODER (Organization of Private Education Institutions) and Bahçeşehir University, and Gene Eidelman, the president of the Mosaica Education in the United States, to get education entrepreneurs all around the world to take steps towards improving the quality of education and to encourage public-private partnerships in this area.
World Education Entrepreneurs Society, in which Enver Yücel and Gene Eidelman will act as co-presidents, was founded with an inaugural meeting in Istanbul Ceylan Continental Hotel. In his opening speech, Muammer Yılmaz, the Director of National Education in Istanbul, stated: “We maintain our promise in Istanbul for providing education with a very large teaching staff for a very large number of students. This cannot be achieved by only following the routine. Foundational approaches are very important for us. I give my thanks to Enver Yücel, Chairman of TODER, for promoting our country in the outside world and facilitating our international cooperation.”
“Education is the Most Important Priority of all Countries”
Enver Yücel, the Chairman of TODER and the Bahçeşehir Uğur Education Institutions, started his words by saying “As the 17th biggest and the 2nd fastest growing economy in the world, we also want to be a center of attraction for education. I am delighted to be establishing in Istanbul today a very significant organization with contributors from different parts of the world.” He added, “When the citizens of a country receive good education, this undeniably benefits the economic and cultural development of that country and helps establish its political stability and balance.”
Yücel noted that even though they are contributing to education in a wide-range of ways, i.e. increasing the number of private schools, investing in school administration, exam-preparation, distance-learning and curriculum building, all of these are done as personal initiatives. And he added, “However much we try to provide flawless education ourselves, our efforts will be meaningless if quality education is not available in the country’s general. Education is the most important priority of all countries. We should have great emphasis for school administrators and teachers and should train them well. This is one of the most important objectives of establishing the World Education Entrepreneurs Society today.”
“We are Going to Share our Common Values”
Drawing attention to the fact that the need for education is increasing, Mr. Yücel observed: “Today the total economic input of the world is not sufficient for providing quality education. This situation will continue to worsen by day. Therefore, we should not waste any resources.”
Mr. Yücel noted that all the children in the world are brothers and sisters and that they all have a right for quality education. He stated: “We declare to the world that we will share our common values.”
“Now, Information is very Fast”
Gene Eidelman, the President of Mosaica Education in the United States, stated: “This idea is formed very recently. As we were contemplating on how to start this project, we found ourselves already at the stage of establishing this organization. Everywhere in the world the educators are dealing with the same problems. The system often remains inadequate. We will wait to see changes being made. We are at a very critical point. Everyone here has a very hard job. However, entrepreneurship is what energizes economies and keeps them alive. We can focus on three points here; Innovation, Globalization and Calibration. When we talk about innovation, we see the need for having administrative personnel dedicated only for education. Teachers can still use the methods that they were using fifty years ago in the classrooms, but the conditions are different for the education administrators. Now, information is very fast and it constantly changes hands. We should hold onto this notion tight. Online-education is spreading very fast in America and we believe that its presence will increase in the coming years”
