The new location of Berlin International University, the member of BAU Globalin Education Network continuing its operation since 2014 as BAU International Berlin, has been inaugurated.
The new campus of Berlin International University, the member of BAU Globalin Education Network, has been opened in Berlin, the capital city of Germany. Berlin International University, being included in 465 universities in Germany and including 375 students from 66 different countries, has the characteristic of being the first Turkish University established in the eye of German laws. The University gives education in English in 6 different departments in the faculty of management and the faculty of design, including interior design, product design, the management of graphic design, digital management and business administration, with the accreditation taken from German Senate Department for Education. Students benefiting from the education of the university come from 66 different countries and the university comes first with this characteristic among 465 universities located in Germany. Students coming from Russia, Brasil, the USA, England and Vietnam are in majority, especially from Germany and Turkey. Teaching staff coming from the countries such as India, Ireland, Japan, Russia, England, and the USA, gives education in the university.
BAU International Berlin Has Moved to the Zone of Universities
Enver Yücel, the president of BAU Global, emphasizing the international dimension of the university in the speech in the opening ceremony, said: “Our university has got involved in the area hosting 6 grand universities of Berlin as the 7th university. Berlin International University is a member of BAU Global. BAU Global is a global establishment having a network of universities in the significant centers in the world. It is a big network having education centers in different places in the world such as BAU Washington DC, BAU Cyprus, BAU Batum, and especially Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul BAU Turkey.”
Yücel, stating that the university in Berlin is different than other universities, said: “We have become a university having international student diversity most in Germany even with our small establishment. It is a university having reached 375 students from 66 countries with just 4 departments. Berlin will be an important higher education institution in terms of next-generation university. It will be an institution which is more internationalized, having more global culture understanding, and apart from education and science in more applications, dealing with the problems of people.”
Yücel, indicating that they have been operating works about the refugee problem which is common both for Germany and Turkey since the beginning, said: “We are glad that we have been concerned about the refugee problem in especially Turkey and Germany in Europe, worked for the integration of refugees and having graduated people from the first Syrian refugee university in Germany. We have also been keeping up operating works for the integration of migrants to Germany.”
“It Will Contribute to the Turkish-German Relationships to a Large Extent”
Yücel, mentioning that Berlin International will contribute to the Turkish-German Relationships, said: “Berlin International University a German university, but is a member of BAU Global. We said Berlin is different and important, because Turkey-German Relationships date back to deep and historical friendship. Our Relationships include economical, political and important friendship. We sent our cognates to work as workers to this country 55 years ago. They contributed a lot to German economy. As their children and grandchildren, we are here to exist and contribute to this country not with muscle force but with brain power. I believe that this university will contribute to the Turkish-German Relationships. Just as there is Turkish German University in Turkey, Berlin International University will contribute to these Relationships in Germany.”
Yücel added to his speech that placement of the word ‘Berlin’ to the beginning of the university’s name is a symbol of trust of German authorities to the university after 4 years. “
Prof. Dr. Hans-Dieter Klingemann, the Rector of Berlin International University, said in his speech: “We are very happy. We are reaching our values we believed when we started the journey. Reaching our goals makes us very happy. Especially our goal in education is to give education that will never cause our graduates to be alienated in anywhere in the world. Our graduates have already reached 22 countries. We are a part of a global education understanding, which opens a road to form educational outputs that we believe as a universal value.”
Syrian Mohammad Moataz, who is in the first refugee position in Germany and graduated from a university in Germany, was awarded with a book by Prof. Dr. Hans-Dieter Klingemann, the Rector of the university, before the opening ceremony. Also, Enver Yücel presented an award to Ali Kemal Aydın, the ambassador of Berlin, due to his support. Afterwards, Enver Yücel, the president of BAU Global, Ali Kemal Aydın, the ambassador of Berlin, and the protocol opened the new campus by cutting the ribbon.
