The Award for Outstanding Contribution to Turkey, which is once a year presented by Bahcesehir University, was granted to Mehmet Büyükekşi, who is the Chairman of Turkey Exporters' Assembly. Mr. Büyükekşi, making speech in ceremony, said that ‘’ I had many awards, but this award is quite different for me. We emphasized to youth and innovation in our studies.’’
The award, which is organized 6th time in this year, given to the people who give direction to the education and improvement, country’s economy, art heritage, introduction and recognizition, was given to Süreyya Ciliy, Turkcell’s former CEO, Oya Eczacıbaşı, the Chairman of the Executive Board of İstanbul Museum of Modern Art, Dr. Mehmet Öz, well-known heart surgeon, Hamdi Ulukaya, the Founder of Chobani yoghurt company and lastly, Hakan Ateş, General Director of Denizbank. The award was given to Mehmet Büyükekşi who is the Chairman of Turkey Exporters’ Asembly, because of his contributions to Turkey’s ecenomic growth, exportation and recogniziton with the ceremony which is organized in Bahçeşehir University’s Beşiktaş South Campus.
‘’MR. BÜYÜKEKŞİ KNOWS THE BEST VALUE OF INNOVATION.’’
Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın, the Rector of Bahçeşehir University (BAU), making the opening speech in the award ceremony, said that ‘’As Bahçeşehir University; we appreciate the people who add value to Turkey’s developing existence and humanity. Büyükekşi, who works non-stop for our country’s increasement for exportation and signs many sucessful results by leading numerous innovations, knows the best the value of innovation. He describes the presidency with the successes on international scale by expressing the Presidency of TİM as the position that finds the most achievable solution, but not declares the biggest and the most important sentence.
The road of Mr. Büyükekşi is to determine the high goals we aim to impress upon our students with industriousness, consistency and is the ambition to work towards those goals, and this ovelaps one to one with proffesional ethics,spirit of entrepreneurship, international communication skill, and most importantly ethical values.
‘’I HAD MANY AWARDS, BUT THIS AWARD IS QUITE DIFFERENT FOR ME’’
The president of TİM, Mehmet Büyükekşi, described his feelings with these words in the speech:
When I look back at the past, I learnt that many people considered worthy to this award. Today I took the sixth of the award. Thank you to Bahçeşehir University’s award comittee and students. I have been working as the Chairman of Turkish Exporters’ Assembly for about 10 years. I had many awards, but this award is quite different for me. We emphasized to youth and innovation in our studies. When I graduated form university, I was 23, I established my own company. My suggestion to youth is that they make their own dreams come true with the spirit of entrepreneurship. As the Great Leader MustafaKemal Atatürk said, the societies, who want to live high without studying, producing, getting tired are condemned to lose firstly their dignity, then their liberty, later on their freedom and futurity. Therefore, I wish you all to work hard and bring our country to the worthy position
Besides Bahçeşehir University’s academicians and students, Pegasus Airline Chairman of the Executive Board and Esas Holding’s Member of Board, Ali Sabancı, and Zerrin Abaz, Makedonia İstanbul Consul General take part in the ceremony too.
