“WE ARE THE CHAMPION IN EDUCATION EXPORT”
Prof. Şenay Yalçın, the rector of BAU, stating their happiness because of the championship award in the branch of Education, made statements “Just as last year, we are deemed worthy of the championship award in Education Export. This situation makes us happy. We do not take this award as an award only because Turkey’s targets are very high, and we are progressing to the 2023,2053 and 2071 targets each passing day. Turkey is a country growing in its field, and improving in its district, and in this sense, it needs to build the balance of power.
Therefore, the contribution of export is very important in this situation. The factors of soft powers of a country are the labor force of that country. In this regard, the championship is not essential. The important thing is to introduce the education system in Turkey.
As a result of the developments in west, especially in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia, the tendency in education has started to become towards Turkey. As Bahçeşehir University, we put the internationalization in the first place since its foundation. In the point arrived at, BAU is a foundation university which has the highest number of international students. We took the championship in the branch of education and export.
The export in education is an export which does not have import. It is an important investment in terms of contributing to Turkey’s economy. Human capital differs from tangible capital. Educating a person means educating three generations. In this sense, we find this awarding meaningful. In the world, 5.5-6 million students are on the move, and these students take education outside their countries. Turkey needs to have more share from this number. The targets of export in education of our honorable President of the Republic and ministers show 300.000. There are students at the rate of one-third of this number in Turkey now.
Our target is high in terms of the requirements to be done. On the condition that we are given the chance by theTurkish Council of High Education and Ministry, it is a simple matter to reach the number of 300.000 within two years. Besides, as the university, we have an advantage in the branch of education because within the scope of BAU, there are 5 universities, 5 education centers and 4 language schools separately in the world. Owing to these, the international students coming to our university have also the chance of taking advantage of high education institutions under this global frame. Under normal circumstances, the students having difficulty in going to these countries have the chance of taking advantage of this connection when they come to our university. In addition, these are our biggest advantages. Considering the price, we are the university admitting international students with the highest price. However, in spite of this, I believe that being preferred by students is an indication that we perform our work right.”
