Selin Altiok, who is graduated from Bahcesehir University Molecular Biology and Genetics Department with her projects and successful education life, has been accepted for Ph.D. program in Biology and Biomedical Sciences leaded by Aziz Sancar in University of North Carolina that is one of the most reputable universities in the world.
Altiok, who is the only Turk among 90 students accepted to the program, explains that the greatest factor triggering her success is "the program leaded by Turkish Professor Aziz Sancar who was given Nobel Prize with his works in the field of cancer".
SHE MADE INTERNSHIP IN YALE UNIVERSITY CONTRACTED WITH BAU AT HER 4TH CLASS
Altiok, stating that she has started her abroad educations while studying in Bahcesehir University, mentioned that she made internship in long and short terms in Yale University, one of the abroad programs contracted with BAU, at her 3rd and 4th classes and she continued her studies with her teachers by staying in Yale University after graduation.
7 of 9 APPLICATIONS WERE ACCEPTED
Altiok, mentioning that her project in biochemistry had a great role in her acceptance to Yale University, said "I was making research on why the mutations turn into tumors in specific brain tumors in Yale University. I think this project was effective in acceptance for the University of North Carolina. I received positive feedbacks from 7 of 9 universities I applied. But none of them would make me so happy".
Altiok, who mentions that she wants to expertise in "pharmacology" in the next years, said that she wants to develop medicines for diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
