Bahçeşehir University (BAU) and Harvard University join their forces in cooperation to measure the success of women's health and education policies in Turkey. As part of the partnership, studies will be conducted to assess the effectiveness and success of policies about women's health in Turkey. For the cooperation and research, the budget allocated to BAU is 2 million dollars. This figure is one of the largest amounts for research to be assigned to a university in social sciences in Turkey.
Within the collaborative research that will be put into practice with the cooperation between Harvard University and Bahçeşehir University and support from Willows Foundation, such various methods as interviews and small-scale group discussions will be utilized in addition to 20 thousand questionnaires. This collaborative research is known as "policy evaluation" in the literature. The project will be coordinated by Harvard University which is considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in the world, and it aims to measure the effectiveness and success of women's reproductive health programs which are applied in cooperation with health units in Turkey with support from Willows Foundation. The Harvard&BAU collaborative project whose first field study is planned to be conducted in October/November 2017, will be managed by Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Esmer and his team.
