Bahçeşehir University wins "Best Brand in Education in Turkey" Award
Turkish brands came together at "Brand Turkey 2017" organized for the first time this year by the Ministry of Economy and the Turkish Exporters Assembly. At the event held with the participation of Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekçi, Bahçeşehir University won an award in the education category.
The award ceremony took place prior to today's sessions of the program held at the Lütfi Kırdar Congress where brand institutions of Turkey will speak accompanied by famous names. Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın, the rector of Bahçeşehir University which won the prize in the education category at the ceremony, received the award from the Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekçi on behalf of the university. In his acceptance speech, Professor Dr. Şenay Yalçın stated that "Our presence here is, of course, thanks to BAU Global. We can be found at 28 different locations in eight countries around the world with our five universities, four language schools, and five satellite campuses under the BAU Global umbrella. Our aims are to create a brand in Turkish higher education and to spread the quality of Turkish higher education across the world. If you look in particular at developed nations, one of the elements that create the soft power of these countries is the education system."
"WE AS BAHÇEŞEHİR UNIVERSITY ARE ONE OF THE INNOVATORS"
Prof. Dr. Şenay Yalçın, who explained that "receiving such as award gives us encouragement," continued by saying
"the appreciation of the work we have done is very important to be able to do even better. It is then that you know whether or not you have done the right work or get your act togetherç Our esteemed minister worded it very well on the subject of coming up with innovating. We as Bahçeşehir University are one of the innovators in the field of higher education. What new things can be done day in day out in higher education? What is the world doing? We are searching for and investigating these, and endeavor to bring the best of what has been done to Turkey. Thus the award for those adding value to the brand of Turkey today was given to Bahçeşehir University in the category of education."
"THE YOUTH OF TURKEY IS HIGHLY INTELLIGENT AND CREATES AMAZING THINGS WHEN GIVEN OPPORTUNITIES"
Prof. Dr. Yalçın, who added that reflections from abroad on Turkish higher education have started thanks to this work, went on to say
"As a matter of fact, reflections on Turkish higher education from those countries have started in the scale of this work and today the number of international students in Turkey, which was 55 thousand in 2014, has reached to 110 thousand today. There are three thousand students from 106 countries studying at Bahçeşehir University alone. These are part of the work that overlaps with introducing our country abroad, Turkey's 2023 and 2053 targets, and the aim of entering the world's top 10 economies. There are, of course, some obstacles but they can be overcome step-by-step by being discussed and explained correctly. Our esteemed minister, for example, said that 'the potential created by our young software developers has reached 500 million dollars.' We discovered this long ago and began to create such a structure at Bahçeşehir University. As you know, the world is changing. There is a digital evolution. If we cannot keep pace with this evolution like in previous industrial revolutions, then we will be faced with the danger of missing out on this, too. However, I must state that the youth of Turkey is highly intelligent and creates amazing things when given opportunities. They are able to bring out products that will be able to compete with the world."
"REGULATIONS THAT SMOOTH THE WAY FOR US NEED TO BE MADE"
Yalçın finished his speech by saying
"Turkey has now discovered its potential. And we as Bahçeşehir University have discovered our own potential. In order for this potential to be transformed into kinetic energy, regulations that smooth the way for us more in legislation, directives, and laws need to be made. If this is done, reaching the targets will be a simple matter."
