Bahçeşehir University was founded in 1998 as a trust-endowed university. Since then, it has constantly expanded its intellectual boundaries and maintained its commitment to providing a high-quality university education by focusing on fundamental academic disciplines. In the past thirteen years, Bahçeşehir University has established six undergraduate faculties, two graduate institutes, and one vocational school.
After the its first graduation ceremony in 2003, Bahçeşehir University moved to its current picturesque Beşiktaş location and enhanced it with a high-tech infrastructure. This campus fits the overall academic philosophy of the university, which is to provide students with a challenging, yet nurturing, environment in which they can pursue active learning, develop social and cultural enhancement, become increasingly independent learners, acquire knowledge and problem-solving and decision-making skills, and develop strong ethical and moral standards.
We also realize that in order to provide this type of academic education, we must provide a mutual exchange of knowledge and experience with other universities and academic institutions around the world. From this perspective, Bahçeşehir University recognizes the importance of international relations with institutions worldwide and has formed partnerships with a multitude of global universities since the university’s establishment. These agreements come in a variety of forms; they include everything from student/teacher exchanges to mutual organization of events. With this approach, we have been educating students who are highly aware of the world around them for 13 years.
In 2011, when we look back on the past 13 years, we are proud to see that Bahçeşehir University has become an important center for art, science, culture, and politics. In short, it has become a symbol for life itself in Istanbul. This success has only been made possible with the help of our dedicated academic and administrative staff, well-managed resources, top-notch standards, challenging but achievable goals, and, most importantly, students who share our excitement.
