Many people from the academic and architectural community attended the ‘Cultural and Architectural Interactions on the Silk Road’ International Conference, an event hosted by the International Silk Road University Association. The Association is a joint venture founded by Bahçeşehir University and Japan’s Mukogawa University.
Enver Yucel, Chair of the Board of Trustees, gave the opening speech at the conference, which brought together many prominent figures from the international community. Bahçeşehir and Mukogawa Universities, being from the western and eastern sides of the Asian continent, symbolize the shared goal of increasing mutual exchange of knowledge and launching of joint ventures. Yucel stated that the association’s goal is to implement an Asian version of the Erasmus program, which exists in Europe, in order to improve the quality of education offered in Asia, and added that “the original stops along the Silk Road were once inns, but today, they are universities.”
