The department of political science and international relations plays an important role today for equipping the individuals with the knowledge of politics from local to global, diplomacy and international relations. This department is a passion for me and it is very crucial in order to serve all humans. My goal is to become an expert in political science and international relations and become one of the best academicians on the world, then take responsibilities in the executive branch of my country. But why do I follow my dreams via Bahcesehir University? Actually I can explain this with one sentence. A world university in the heart of Istanbul. The university has 8 campuses around the globe, exchange and erasmus agreements with countless number of universities, includes a system like "Co-Op" which provides the possibility to work while studying and after graduation helps for finding a job. Education is being given fully in English but also German, Russian, French, Spanish etc. languages are being taught too. The academic staff is composed of the best with no doubt. If an example is needed, the academicians that we get in contact has their books, researches, articles and discourses are being shown in the most important education places around the world and we can see them on TV, magazines and daily news. In addition to that, the number of international students in our university can not be ignored. From USA to China, from France to Russia, around 1000 international students are getting their educations in Bahcesehir University. This helps us to understand different cultures, speak different languages and create new friendships. Also the HLO(Government and Leadership School) within the university helps us to identify the domestic and foreign policies, the growth of the International Relations through history, analyzing the effects of social and political structures and latest events in the world and I believe that this is a very important part of political science and international relations education. The campuses such as BAU Washington and BAU Berlin are helping us to observe and analyze world politics from the first hand. All of those amazing aspects led me directly into studying in BAU and It feels so good to be here.

While preparing for university entrance exam, there are some departments that drew my attention in my mind. I decided that I wanted to study Political Science and International Relations after my examination about this department’s content and the jobs that alumni do in future. This department is not only my field of interest but also it provides a lot of jobs after the graduation. The decision that I want to study at a private university was taken previously. According to me, the private universities provide more opportunities than state universities. With this thought, I found the Bahcesehir University and this university did not delude my opinion. Bahcesehir University provides a lot of opportunities with its success of academic staff, opportunities for internship via COOP and the campuses abroad. Of course, these are the general features of our university. I want to explain my department’s features a little bit more. There are a lot of successful lecturers in our university. We have good- humored lecturers from professors to academic assistants, who are closely interested in us, are available when we need them, help their students intentionally when these students have some problems. Also, we have an institution called “Hükümet ve Liderlik Okulu” which succeeded a lot. This institution plays an important role on the development of Political Science and International Relations’ students with its organizations. Our university’s campus at Washington DC enables our department’s students to learn politics in the USA. With the help of clubs called Political Science and International Relations and Model United Nations, students can improve their knowledge and can make friends. Most importantly, the education language is English. Knowing English is very important to follow the cases that happen in the world. It is very pleasant studying at a university which provides a lot of opportunities to its students…

The reason why I preferred to study Political Science and International Relations in Bahçeşehir University is that the department covers the current issues that are part of our lives. This department helps me understand and comment on these current issues. While anticipating my future, the department can provide me many opportunities to find a new job. All of these had effect on my choice and now, the important and impressive people I met, the events and the conferences that I attend shows that my choice is right. Other reasons for my preference of studying this department in BAU are the place of the university, job, education and internship opportunities abroad. Now, I see that the academic staff is high quality, successful and working in close connection with their students, which has proven that I made a right decision.
