SCHOLARSHIPS AND OTHER BENEFITS DIRECTIVE
SECTION ONE
Purpose, Scope, Basis, and Definition
Purpose
ARTICLE 1- (1) The purpose of this Directive is to raise the quality of education at undergraduate and graduate levels at Bahçeşehir University by supporting our students with scholarships among other benefits; to encourage students to pursue high-level academic studies; to reward students who excel in science, technology, sports, and arts; and in doing so, to promote Bahçeşehir University nationally and internationally.
(2) This Directive outlines the application, evaluation, and final decision processes regarding all kinds of scholarships and other benefits, to be given in line with the above purpose, to Bahçeşehir University students, and the approach, influences, and responsibilities involved in the decision-making process.
Scope
ARTICLE 2 – (1) This Directive covers the regulations regarding scholarships and other benefits afforded to students who are studying/will study in undergraduate and graduate programs at Bahçeşehir University.
Basic
ARTICLE 3 – (1) This Directive has been prepared based on Bahçeşehir University Undergraduate Education Regulations, Bahçeşehir University Graduate Education Regulations and Bahçeşehir University General Regulations.
Definitions
ARTICLE 4 - a) Scholarship: Financial support toward tuition fees;
b)The Scholarship Board: The body responsible for all scholarship procedures established by the President of Bahçeşehir University;
c) CO-OP (Cooperative Education): The unit that coordinates agreements between Bahçeşehir University and companies for educational programs;
d) Support: Financial aid given students, financial support;
e) Doctoral Scholarship Board: Board consisting of the Representative of the Board of Trustees, Vice President, Institute Director, Directorate of Research Policies, Technology Transfers, and Entrepreneurship, relevant Centers’ Director(s), and Program Coordinator(s);
f) Institute: Institute providing graduate education within Bahçeşehir University;
g)Faculty: Faculties that provide undergraduate education within Bahçeşehir University;
h) Partial Scholarship: Support for tuition fees at various rates (50%, 25%, etc.); i) Vocational School: Various vocational schools that provide associate degree education within Bahçeşehir University;
j) Student Current Accounts Services Directorate: Bahçeşehir University Student Current Accounts Services Directorate;
k) Full Scholarship: 100% support for tuition fees;
l) University: Bahçeşehir University; m) College: Colleges within Bahçeşehir University that provide undergraduate education.
Structure and duties of the Scholarship Board
ARTICLE 5 –(1) The Scholarship Board is chaired by the Vice President concerned with student life and consists of a member of the Board of Trustees, General Secretary, Head of Health, Culture and Sports Department, Director of Student Current Services, and Scholarship Procedures and Coordination Unit Manager. If necessary, the deputy deans/ directors of faculties/colleges/vocational schools/institutes may be invited to meetings to present their perspectives on the relevant agenda. (2) The Scholarship Board is a permanent unit and serves to fulfill the functions specified in the second paragraph of Article 1.
(3) The Department of Health, Culture and Sports and the Scholarship Procedures and Coordination Unit receive scholarship requests, evaluate them, get the necessary approvals, and then announce the decisions to the concerned people; payments and other financial transactions are carried out by the Student Current Services Directorate. (4) The rates and amount of financial support provided by partial scholarships determined in this Directive are reviewed by the Scholarship Board at the beginning of each academic year. The Scholarship Board has the authority to make any changes it deems necessary in the rates and amount of support as outlined in this Directive.
(5) All scholarship recipients are subject to the conditions stated in this Directive as regards the rate and amount of support provided
SECTION TWO
Undergraduate Scholarships and Support
ÖSYM scholarships or partial scholarships
ARTICLE 6 - (1) Full Scholarship (100%): This is a scholarship given to students who are placed in one of the university's full scholarship quotas through the central placement or special talent exam. It provides full tuition fee exemption for the maximum duration of study, including the Preparatory Program. This scholarship is also valid for summer schools, double major, and minor programs.
(2) Partial Scholarship (50%, 25% etc.): These are partial scholarships given to students who are placed in one of the university's partial scholarship quotas based on their central placement or special talent exam scores at the rates specified in the guide for the program in which they are placed. It provides exemption from tuition fee at the partial rate of the scholarship for the maximum duration of study, including the Preparatory Program. This partial scholarship is also valid for summer schools, double major and minor programs.
(3) Scholarships received from ÖSYM by students who are studying in a program of the university within the scope of the ÖSYM scholarship quota are considered "horizontal transfer scholarships" at the same rate, provided that these students make internal transfers between programs at the same levels (from bachelor’s degree to bachelor’s degree or from associate degree to associate degree) and with the same ECTS into which it is converted. These scholarships are for the maximum remaining period of study in the program to which the student will be transferring (the maximum remaining period is calculated by subtracting the time spent in the first program from the maximum period).
ARTICLE 7 – (1) Top 100 and Top 1000 Success Rankings: Students who are placed in the top 1000 rankings in associate and bachelor’s programs based on their central placement exam scores are grouped as the top 100 and top 101-1000, and receive financial support by the university as detailed below:
a) Students placed in the first 100 and first 101-1000 groupings will receive financial support for 9 (nine) months, starting from the Preparatory Program, if applicable, during the regular period of education the major program in which they are registered, in the amounts determined in May, with the recommendation of the Scholarship Board and the approval of the Board of Trustees, including the months of October and June. The time frame for which financial support will be provided for internal horizontal transfers is determined by deducting the period of adjustment from the normal period.
b) Additional points are not considered when determining the students in the top 1000.
c) Students who do not register for courses or renew their registration, or who suspend their registration cannot benefit from the support specified for these periods.
ç) Financial support provided by Bahçeşehir University to students in the top 1000 is cut off if the student's GPA falls below 2.50/4.00.
(2) Scholarships for students whose placement is determined by the “vertical transfer” exam:
a) Bahçeşehir University associate degree graduates receive a partial scholarship of 25% in any undergraduate program to which they transfer at Bahçeşehir University.
b) Students who are in the top 3 of their graduating class from any Bahçeşehir University Vocational School, and who were admitted to a Bahçeşehir University undergraduate program based on their Vertical Transfer Exam score will receive scholarships as follows: a full scholarship for the student who placed 1st; a partial scholarship of 75% for the student who placed 2nd; and a partial scholarship of 50% for the student who placed 3rd, valid for the regular period of education. To receive these scholarships, students must register for their program for the academic year following their graduation. Students who receive a scholarship outlined in this article cannot additionally benefit from the graduation scholarship mentioned in paragraph (a) of this article.
c) In the calculation of these partial scholarships, adjustments to accommodate transfers are made by deducting the time spent during the regular period of studies of the program of origin, excluding the time spent in the Preparatory Program, from the new program, and the partial scholarship continues for the remaining years of that program. (For example, if a student is placed into the 2nd year of a 4-year undergraduate program based on their Vertical Transfer Exam score, their partial scholarship will continue for the remaining 3 years by subtracting 1 year from the normal period of 4 years
Athletic scholarships and benefits
ARTICLE 8 - (1) Benefits provided for students who participate in team sports:
a) These scholarships are awarded to students who are actively involved in the main squads of Bahçeşehir University Women's Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Men's Basketball and Men's Football teams, at the discretion of the Scholarship Board at the beginning of each academic year for the maximum period of education. This financial support is canceled if the student does not participate in inter-university competitions without a valid reason or discontinues their active participation in the above sports clubs.
b) Students who are in the reserve squads of the aforementioned teams, and who compete when necessary, receive financial support in the amounts determined by the Scholarship Board if their team ranks in the top three in inter-university competitions. In case of success in more than one competition in the same academic year, a single payout in the maximum amount is made.
c) Students representing the University in the highest level inter-university competitions in branches of team sports determined and announced by the Department of Health, Culture and Sports at the beginning of the academic year, and in competitions organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF) (except Super League or the Turkey Championship, local or partial group competitions), receive financial support in the amounts determined by the Scholarship Board if their teams place in the top three. Individual scores of team athletes are not considered. In case of success in more than one competition in the same academic year, a single payout in the maximum amount is made.
(2) Financial support for students who are successful in individual sports: Financial support in the amounts determined by the Scholarship Board is provided to students who represent the University in competitions and place in the top three in the highest-level inter-university competitions organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF) (except Super League or the Turkey Championship, local or partial group competitions). In case of success in more than one competition in the same academic year, a single payout in the maximum amount is made.
(3) Students enrolled in the University are given scholarships specified in the text outlining the relevant protocol during the regular period of education of the program in which they are enrolled, in accordance with the agreement signed by the University and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
(4) Scholarships or financial support within the scope of BAU E-Sports is given in the player and team categories within the quota determined by the Scholarship Board, valid for one academic year, in line with the request of the relevant unit before the selection period every year.
(5) All athletic scholarships or benefits are also valid for summer school.
Apply BAU, BİSEP, Special Talent scholarships and other benefits
ARTICLE 9 - (1)In line with the regulations and principles established by the Scholarship Board before each selection/application period, the programs, criteria, number of students, and the percentage of the scholarships awarded by the relevant faculty, school or the Conservatory are submitted for approval to the Board of Trustees, the General Secretariat, and the Rectorate. Recipients are determined according to this procedure, and the processes involved in the giving of full or partial scholarships are carried out by the relevant faculty, school or the Conservatory and the Scholarship Procedures and Coordination Unit affiliated with the Rectorate. An "Acceptance Letter" is issued to deserving students when they enroll by the President, and/or an administrator deputized by the President, indicating the scholarship rate. These scholarships (except the BİSEP Scholarship or partial scholarships) cannot be combined with ÖSYM partial scholarships. All relevant procedures for international students stated above are carried out by the faculty, school, or the Conservatory, the International Promotion Directorate, and the Scholarship Procedures and Coordination Unit. (2) Scholarships given to students through Apply BAU, the University’s application acceptance system: Applicants are sent an acceptance letter through the system or in print, indicating the results of the assessment of their application, whether they have received a scholarship, at what percentage, and for which program.
(3) To benefit from Apply BAU scholarships, an application must be made via the University's website, the application must be accepted, and an "acceptance letter" must be sent to the applicant through the system or in print.
(4) Students must be placed in the program shown on the APPLY BAU form and which is indicated on their acceptance letter, through the central placement, special talent exam, “horizontal” or “vertical” transfer exam, or international student admission within the relevant entry type in the paid status to benefit from Apply BAU scholarships.
(5) Apply BAU scholarships are valid when students register for studies during the period indicated on their application. Students must apply again for the following year's registration period.
(6) Students with Apply BAU scholarships who transfer internally to other Apply BAU programs continue to receive their scholarship at the same rate. However, students who transfer to programs outside the scope of Apply BAU will have their scholarship canceled.
(7) The relevant academic department evaluates the applications for BİSEP, special talent scholarships, and other benefits. Recipients, the percentage and amount of the scholarship, as well the reasons why the candidates were chosen are deliberated by the Scholarship Board, and a decision is made with the approval of the Board of Trustees.
(8) Apply BAU, BİSEP, and Special Talent scholarships are valid for the maximum duration of study, including summer school.
(9) Exceptional circumstances and special conditions are considered by the Scholarship Board upon the request of the relevant faculty, school, or the Conservatory, and are decided with the approval of the Board of Trustees.
International diploma partial scholarships
ARTICLE 10 – (1) Students registered through central placement (except DGS) and horizontal transfer, and those who have graduated from high schools in Turkey and have International Diplomas (IB, Abitur, etc.) will receive a 25% reduction from their tuiton fees, determined and paid for on the day of registration if any of the following circumstances apply:
a) They have an IB diploma score of 32 and above (students must apply with an IB diploma or equivalent document);
b) Their ABITUR diploma grade is 2.3 and above;
c) Their MATURA diploma grade is 2.0 and above;
d) Their MATURİTA diploma grade is 80 and above;
e) They have a diploma score of at least 60, which is equivalent to high school diploma scores required in Italy, in accordance with the curriculum determined by Italian High Schools in Turkey and approved every year by the Italian Ministry of Education;
f) They have a French Baccalaureate diploma grade of at least 14;
g) They have completed at least 3 AP courses with a minimum grade of 4;
h) They have at least 60 diploma grades equivalent to the French Baccalaureate awarded by high schools in Turkey.
(2) The partial scholarships mentioned in this article are valid for the maximum duration of studies in the Preparatory Program and their subsequent studies in the relevant program but are not valid for summer school.
(3) Admission of international students: International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) students who have finished high school will get a 10% scholarship if their diploma grades are 36-40 out of 42, and a 15% scholarship if their diploma grades are 40 and above. For the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Medicine, if the score is 36-40 out of 42, the concerned student will get a 5% scholarship, and if the score is 40 and above, the concerned student will get a 10% scholarship; students studying in these faculties, in addition to the above-mentioned conditions, may benefit from the partial scholarship opportunity, provided that they take High Level Biology and Chemistry.
(4) Admission of international students: Academic scholarships are provided to undergraduate students who submit Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) results during the application and admission period at the rates specified in the table below.

(5) Admission of international students: Students who have a minimum A grade in at least three (3) Advanced Level courses in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or GCSE British system get a 5% scholarship; and those who have a minimum A grade in at least four (4) Advanced Level courses get a 10% scholarship. Students of the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Medicine will have additional scholarship opportunities to those mentioned above, provided that their Advanced Level courses are Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Students who have taken Pre-Med (Medical Preparatory Courses) or Pre-Health in high school will get a 5% scholarship if they apply to programs in the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry or Pharmaceutical Medicine, and their high school graduation average is at least 3.5 out of 4.
Associate and bachelor’s degree partial scholarships for siblings
ARTICLE 11 – (1) Siblings studying in associate or bachelor’s programs who are enrolled at the same time each receive a partial scholarship of 10%.
(2) Partial scholarships for siblings are valid when students pay full-year tuition fees. They are not valid for per-course or credit-based pricing.
(3) Only those with the same mother and/or father or children who are the legal dependents of either or both parents can benefit from these partial scholarships.
(4) After one of the siblings graduates, the 10% partial scholarship continues for the other sibling(s).
(5) These partial scholarships are valid for the maximum duration of study for the associate or bachelor’s programs, including the Preparatory Program.
(6) Partial scholarships for siblings are not available in summer school.
Bahçeşehir University partial scholarships for staff
ARTICLE 12 – (1) Bahçeşehir University full-time employees may enroll themselves, their children, and their spouses for associate and bachelor’s studies, and receive the following benefits as of their registration date:
a) 30% off tuition for personnel, their children and spouses who have been working at the University for up to 24 months;
b) 40% off tuition for personnel, their children and spouses who have been working at the University between to 25-48 months;
c) 50% off tuition for personnel, their children and spouses who have been working at the University for more than 49 months.
(2) Partial scholarships for staff are valid for the regular period of study for associate and bachelor’s degree programs.
(3) These scholarships are not available for summer school.
(4) Employees who leave their job of their own volition will have their partial scholarship discontinued for the remaining periods of study. If a member of staff has their employment terminated by the University, the Scholarship Board decides whether their partial scholarship will continue, depending on the reason for termination.
BAU support for academic excellence
ARTICLE 13 – (1) BAU Support for academic excellence: The President’s Honour and the Dean’s Pride Awards: Students who are eligible to participate in the success ranking of the relevant class according to the Bahçeşehir University Students Academic Success Ranking Directive are taken into consideration.
(2) While calculating students' academic performance scores, their research, entrepreneurial pursuits, and contributions to society are taken into account according to the following formula in Appendix 1: Academic performance score = GPA + Research Score*0.001 + entrepreneurship score*0.001 + social contribution score*0.001
(3) President’s Honour Award: At the end of each academic year, students with a GPA of 3.90 and above in their majors are taken into consideration;
a) This award is given to 10 (ten) students who are eligible to be ranked and have the highest scores according to the academic performance score calculation for each grade (1,2,3 and 4) university-wide.
b) A maximum of 2 (two) students from the same bachelor’s or associate degree program can take part in this ranking.
c) Students whose grade point average is below 3.90 are not eligible for this award regardless of their ranking.
(4) Dean’s Pride Awards: At the end of each academic year, students with a GPA of 3.75 and above in their majors are taken into consideration; a) This award is given to the top 2 (two) students with the highest academic performance scores in each class of each program. b) Students whose grade point average is below 3.75 are not eligible for this award regardless of their ranking.
(5) The amount of financial support and the time for the award presentation are determined and announced by the Board of Trustees at the beginning of each academic year.
(6) Students deemed worthy of both the President's Honour Award and the Dean's Pride Award in the same academic year are given the President's Honour Award.
(7) Students who have been subject to disciplinary action ar not eligible to receive either award.
(8) Evaluating students enrolled through DGS and Horizontal Transfer for the President's Honour Award and the Dean's Pride Award starts 1 (one) academic year after the beginning of their associate and bachelor’s programs (excluding the Preparatory Program).
(9) GPA calculations for the President's Honour Award and the Dean's Pride Award begin at the end of the first year and take into account all classes excluding fifth and sixth grades of the Faculty of Medicine and the fifth grade of the Faculty of Dentistry.
Support for success in academic and artistic competitions:
ARTICLE 14 - (1) Students who have entered top rankings representing Bahçeşehir University in national or international academic competitions (project competitions, art competitions, etc.) may be given financial support in an amount deemed appropriate by the Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the Scholarship Board, limited to the academic year following the year in which they won the award.
Double Major and Minor scholarships:
ARTICLE 15 – (1) There is no additional tuition fee for students doing double majors or minors at Bahçeşehir University
Financial support (students with 100% ÖSYM scholarships)
ARTICLE 16 - (1) Students with 100% ÖSYM scholarships who need financial assistance can request support if they have completed at least 2 (two) semesters in their major programs excluding the Preparatory Program, have a GPA of 3.50/4.00 or above, and have not exceeded the regular period of study. These students may be given financial support for 9 months at the discretion of the Scholarship Board. This assistance is available for one academic year. General Conditions
ARTICLE 17 - (1) For students receiving more than one partial scholarship, the rates are not calculated based on the total sum of the partial scholarships; Each partial scholarship rate is calculated considering the difference on the remaining amounts. For example, if a student with a 50% partial scholarship upon beginning their program also wishes to benefit from the sibling scholarship, they will be entitled to a partial scholarship equal to 10% of the fee thet are obliged to pay. In other words, they will receive a total of 55% partial scholarship.
(2) Financial support is not available if the student does not register, if registration is suspended, or if registration is not renewed.
(3) The continuation of scholarships or financial aid for students who have been subjected to disciplinary action is at the discretion of the Scholarship Board.
(4) The continuation of scholarships for students who return to their studies through an act of indemnity after having been subject to academic sanctions is at the discretion of the Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the Senate.
(5) Scholarships or financial aid requested by students having monetary difficulties due to loss of income (death, bankruptcy, etc.) after enrolling in the university is evaluated by the Scholarship Board upon the submission of the required documents.
(6) Scholarships are valid for the English/Turkish preparatory programs for students who register for them of their own volition; however, at the end of the preparatory program, students who do not complete at least two semesters of their program in the relevant faculty must repay the full annual preparatory program tuition fees; students are required to sign an affidavit confirming their agreement.
SECTION THREE
Master’s Degree Scholarships, Discounts and Benefits
Master’s Degree Scholarships
ARTICLE 18 – (1) Full academic or partial scholarships:
a) BAU High Honour Scholarship: A one-time full scholarship is given to students who graduate from Bahçeşehir University undergraduate programs with honours, and are accepted to Bahçeşehir University master's (with a thesis requirement) programs. This scholarship is valid for the maximum duration of the master's program if the student registers for a maximum of 3 (three) academic years after graduating from the undergraduate program (starting from the beginning of the year following graduation).
b) ALES partial scholarship: A 15% (of the semester tuition fee) partial scholarship is given to students who score 85 or above on the ALES exam for the relevant program (sciences, arts or both in equal measure), and also to those who achieve the minimum specified score on the exams listed below:

c) Partial academic scholarships for graduates of other universities: Candidates whose GPA is minimum 3.50 out of 4.00 in their undergraduate studies receive a 15% (of the semester tuition fee) partial scholarship.
d) Partial academic scholarship for achievement in foreign languages: Candidates who achieve the minimum specified score on any of the English language proficiency exams listed below receive a 10% (of the semester tuition fee) partial scholarship:

(2) Partial scholarships for Bahçeşehir University graduates: Master's degree candidates who have graduated from Bahçeşehir University undergraduate programs and become members of the Bahçeşehir University Alumni Association will receive a partial scholarship of 50% (of the semester fee) during their studies, provided that they continue their membership. These candidates can benefit from partial scholarships for the duration of one program maximum.
(3) Partial scholarships for public employees: A maximum 25% partial scholarship is given to master’s students working in public institutions. Employees working in public institutions or organizations with which a cooperation protocol has been established and agreement made are eligible for full or partial scholarships, provided that they are within the allotted quota for the relevant program or partial scholarship rate specified in the agreement approved by the Rectorate.
(4) Partial scholarships for employees working in companies with agreements with BAU or in BAU CO-OP program businesses: Partial scholarships are given to employees working in companies with agreements with BAU, or companies with CO-OP partnership agreements with the university, at the rates specified in the agreement with the particular company.
(5) Scholarships for BAU employees: Bahçeşehir University full-time employees applying for a master’s degree program are eligible for a 100% staff scholarship based on merit, length of employment, and contributions to the job at the discretion of their senior management. Barring exceptional cases subject to the approval of the Rectorate, members of staff are not eligible to receive the same scholarship for a second time at the same level of studies. A student whose reason for receiving a scholarship is no longer valid (leaves their job voluntarily) while continuing their master's degree must pay the tuition fees for the courses they fail to complete in their program, including those offered in the current period of study at the time they terminate their employment. A contract is drawn up between the recipients of this type of scholarship and the University in accordance with of this directive. (6) Candidates who complete their undergraduate studies at universities ranked in the top 400 in the THE or QS rankings the year they graduate are presented to the Scholarship Board by the Institute for evaluation.
(7) Potential full or partial scholarship recipients are determined by the Scholarship Board and subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees.
(8) Full or partial scholarships for faculty members working on an hourly basis: Bahçeşehir University faculty members who work on an hourly basis applying for a master’s degree program are eligible for a 25% staff scholarship during the periods when they are actively teaching, based on merit, length of employment, and contributions to the job at the discretion of their senior management. These partial scholarships can potentially become full scholarships at the discretion of the University Scholarship Board upon the recommendation of the Institute Directorate. Barring exceptional cases subject to the approval of the Rectorate, faculty members are not eligible to receive the same scholarship for a second time at the same level of studies. Full or partial doctoral scholarships
ARTICLE 19 - (1) Candidates who are admitted to Bahçeşehir University doctoral programs are eligible to apply for scholarships. These applicants must meet at least one of the criteria in the "PhD Scholarship Candidate Evaluation Chart" (APPENDIX-2) announced by the Institute. Scholarship candidates submit their application with the relevant forms and required documents to the Institute to be evaluated within the following categories and scholarship quotas, with the approval of the Institute Directorate: After interviewing the candidates, the Doctoral Scholarship Board submits the board's decision to the University Scholarship Board. In addition to the criteria established by the Institute, candidates are also evaluated according to the qualifications and competencies determined by the Board according to the field of study.
a) Entrepreneurship Scholarship: Those who want to conduct doctoral and postdoctoral research to spread a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation, and would-be entrepreneurs who have technological and innovative products or business ideas within the realm of commercial success are eligible for this scholarship.
b) Research Scholarship: Those focusing on excellence in education, research, and contribution to society in line with the vision and mission of Bahçeşehir University by working in the application and research centres within the university (BETAM, MEDAM, CIFAL, etc.), and at the same time supporting potential doctoral students and contributing towards the development of scientists our country needs are eligible for this scholarship.
c) Science Scholarship: As Bahçeşehir University, we support science and high technology at the highest level in the development of countries; we promote the increase of human resources with doctorate degrees and research abilities in order to strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation and develop "Quality Knowledge" and "Quality Manpower" in the fields of social science, health, science, and education. Candidates for this scholarship are evaluated based on their contribution to the abovementioned principles.
d) Graduation Scholarship: Candidates who complete their master's degree at universities ranked in the top 400 in the THE or QS rankings the year they graduate are presented to the Scholarship Board for evaluation upon the recommendation of the Institute.
e) Candidates for full or partial scholarships in doctoral studies: Upon the recommendation of the Doctoral Scholarship Board and agreement of the Scholarship Board, applications are submitted for the approval of the Board of Trustees and a decision is made.
(2) Scholarships for BAU employees: Bahçeşehir University full-time employees applying for a doctoral degree program are eligible for a 100% staff scholarship based on merit, length of employment, and contributions to the job at the discretion of their senior management. Barring exceptional cases subject to the approval of the Rectorate, members of staff are not eligible to receive the same scholarship for a second time at the same level of studies. A student whose reason for receiving a scholarship is no longer valid (leaves their job voluntarily) while continuing their doctoral degree must pay the tuition fees for the courses they fail to complete in their program, including those offered in the current period of study at the time they terminate their employment. A contract is drawn up between the recipients of this type of scholarship and the university in accordance with of this directive. (3) Full or partial scholarships for faculty members working on an hourly basis: Bahçeşehir University faculty members who work on an hourly basis applying for a doctoral degree program are eligible for a 25% staff scholarship during the periods when they are actively teaching, based on merit, length of employment, and contributions to the job at the discretion of their senior management. These partial scholarships can potentially become full scholarships at the discretion of the University Scholarship Board upon the recommendation of the Institute Directorate. Barring exceptional cases subject to the approval of the Rectorate, faculty members are not eligible to receive the same scholarship for a second time at the same level of studies. General conditions for graduate programs
ARTICLE 20 – (1) Scholarships are determined by the Bahçeşehir University Institute of Graduate Studies at the beginning of each academic year within the quotas and rates established for the programs offered.
(2) Scholarships stated to be valid throughout the period of study continue as long as the relevant program does not exceed the maximum periods of study specified in the reglations.
(3) Scholarships given on a term-by-term basis are available for the established period of study and are re-evaluated at the beginning of each academic semester.
(4) Scholarship rates for graduate programs cannot be combined; students will receive the highest established scholarship percentage for which they are eligible.
(5) The continuation of scholarships for students who have been subject to disciplinary action is at the discretion of the Scholarship Board.
Application
ARTICLE 21 - (1) The Directive dated 20.12.2018 and numbered 238, that had come into effect with the approval of the Presidency of the Board of Trustees, has been repealed as of the publication date of this Directive.
(2) The provisions of this Directive will apply as of the registration of new students for the 2023-2024 academic year.
