The Center for Community, Health, Behavior, and Prevention Studies (CHSP)
A Center That Understands Society and Strengthens Health and Resilience: CHSP
Established in 2012 within Bahçeşehir University, the Center for Community, Health, Behavior, and Prevention Studies (CHSP) aims to develop solutions to multidimensional problems threatening individual and community health through interdisciplinary approaches. While individual risks such as the rise in mental health issues and substance use lead to broader consequences like the erosion of family structures, the weakening of social solidarity, and the breakdown of social cohesion, CHSP addresses these dynamics not merely as health issues but also as areas of sociological transformation.
Working from this perspective, our center develops projects aimed at enhancing individuals’ psychological and social resilience while preventing social vulnerabilities. Initiatives in areas such as preventing risky behaviors among youth, supporting family cohesion, and protecting mental health also aim to enhance social resilience in the face of disasters, migration, and crisis conditions. CHSP prioritizes strengthening the capacity of individuals and society to adapt to changing conditions and contributing to the formation of sustainable social structures.
Our center focuses on current issues such as migration, cyber violence, gender equality, women’s empowerment, and the impact of the digital age on individuals, while bringing knowledge production to the field by developing partnerships with public institutions, civil society, and the private sector. These partnerships both enhance academic contributions and provide guiding data for policymakers.
CHSP contributes to goals such as “Good Health and Well-being,” “Gender Equality,” and “Reduced Inequalities” in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while continuing its efforts to enhance social welfare and build a more resilient society capable of withstanding crises.
CHSP is committed to understanding society, strengthening the resilience of individuals and communities, and building a healthy, equitable future.
