The aim of the program is to train the nurses with a degree of doctor of philosophy that will provide them gain knowledge and skills for conducting research in the field of nursing, and using, implementing and disseminating the study results with a systematic approach for health promotion and quality management in the healthcare systems. Nurses enrolled in Doctor of Philosophy Program will acquire knowledge about models for improvement of health related quality of life and health quality management. Nurses are required to be able to take contemporary roles and responsibilities after completion of their Doctor of Philosophy dissertation which will be built up to help adopting innovative and new scientific approaches in research.
Doctoral program in Nursing includes required courses based on basic principles of research and courses focused on fields of specialization in nursing and preparation for PhD dissertation.
The PhD candidates may choose the courses according to their specific interests or their field of study; such as Medical Nursing, Surgical Nursing, Nursing Fundamentals, Women’s Health and Obstetric Nursing, Public Health Nursing, Pediatric Health and Pediatric Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing and Nursing Management.
Students of doctoral program are required to complete at least 21-credit courses maximum in four consecutive semesters. Except the seminar course, the program consists at least a total of 9 courses. 5 out of 9 courses (10 credits) are required courses and 4 of them (11 credits) are elective courses.
