The School of Government and Leadership has been organizing the School of Politics Middle East Program since the 2007-2008 academic year as a complementary international fieldwork program to the original School of Politics program that brings together Turkey’s politicians, diplomats, businessmen and representatives from non-governmental organizations.
Program Amacı: The Goal of the Program
School of Politics Middle East certificate program aims to make its participants more informed in political life and widen their perspectives to international relations. The School of Government and Leadership believes that people can only understand a region if they see it for themselves and hear the opinions of the people and experts who live there. This is especially true if the region is one that is as prominent in global politics as the Middle East. As a region that is always in the news around the globe, interests everyone regardless of whether or not they are interested in politics. The Middle East is a region that is economically, culturally and religiously very important and remains an important are of interest for the School of Government and Leadership.
Program Özellikleri: About the Program
The School of Politics Middle East certificate program focuses on the Israel-Palestine Issue, regional actor and Turkey-Israel relations. Also, in order to best understand the region, holy sites that play an immensely important role both in the region and globally are visited. The duration of the program is between 8 to 10 days. The briefings during the program are given in English. English to Turkish and Turkish to English translations are provided during briefings. At the end of each briefing, there is a Q&A session where participants can ask their questions to the speaker. Participants are given a certificate at the end of the program.

In order for the region to be politically and culturally understood, a guide conducts the cultural tours. The briefings are given by expert politicians, diplomats, political advisors, academics, representatives of local governments and non governmental organizations.
