School of Government and Leadership - Latin Amerika Project
Latin American countries have interesting and unique social and political dimensions, distinguished from the rest of the world. In the last 10 years, Turkey and Latin American countries have started fostering their mutual relations. Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes on creating awareness of Latin America and its economic potential within NGOs, chambers of industry and other official institutions and tries to educate public opinion about Latin America.
School of Government and Leadership attaches a great importance to these efforts to improve the Turkish-Latin American relations. Therefore, we decided to start the “Latin America Project”. The project will mainly focus on Latin American countries’ social, economics, cultural and political aspects and the importance of Latin American countries in the world politics and international economy, especially after the recent financial crisis.
As the first steps of the project, the center carried out two programs, namely the “Latin America and Caribbean Forum” and the “Global Leadership Forum”.
The School of Government and Leadership aims for the Latin America Project to be a long-term undertaking with round tables, conferences and researches on Latin America’s social, economic, cultural and political dynamics.
