Pera Studio is the main facility where the courses of the Music Technology Department are conducted. Established in the Fall Semester of 2024-2025, this unit serves as a studio, classroom, and research laboratory where department courses take place, students work on assignments and personal projects, musicians, artists, and academics from both inside and outside the conservatory carry out sound production projects, and researchers in the field of music technology conduct their studies. The studio is listed among the “Dolby Atmos Certified Studios.”
The studio consists of two recording rooms and one control room. The control room is equipped with a 7.1.4 speaker system calibrated according to Dolby Atmos standards, allowing for three-dimensional sound work. The calibration of this monitoring system was conducted by Dolby Labs. Users can switch between different listening configurations, such as 2.0, 5.1, and 7.1.4. At the heart of the control room is the AMS Neve Genesys analog mixer. With its 32-channel channel strip and extensive routing options, the Genesys mixer enhances the studio's operational versatility. Connectivity between the control room and the recording rooms is managed through the studio patchbay. The control room houses three racks containing microphone preamps, compressors, and equalizers as outboard gear. Through the patchbay, users can create customized signal flows as needed. Additionally, the control room doubles as a classroom for up to 15 students. One of the recording rooms is designed for ensemble recordings, while the other is optimized for vocals, drums, or isolated recordings of specific sound sources. The three rooms are visually connected through acoustically treated parallel glass panels. The equipment list for the studio is provided below.
