Established in 2011, the Ottoman History Master's Program at Bahçeşehir University provides education in early, classical, and pre-Tanzimat Ottoman history. The program offers a methodological infrastructure that allows students to conduct comparative history with their foundation in Ottoman history. The program aims to integrate Digital humanities methods into various stages of the education program, teaching DH tools in the curriculum, and encouraging the use of DH methods in thesis work.
Starting from 2024, Ottoman language courses taught by Fatma Öncel in the Ottoman History Master's Program will be shaped around the theme of "Ottoman language education in the age of artificial intelligence." DH methods such as text recognition tools, automatic transcription, text analysis, and data curation will be integrated into Ottoman language education.
The program is conducted in Turkish. Classes are held face-to-face, except in exceptional circumstances (pandemics, earthquakes, etc.), providing students with a lively academic discussion environment. The Master's Program in History offers both thesis and non-thesis options.
Every year, admission to the History Master's Program is through an interview process, and a limited number of students are offered a 100% scholarship. For current information on application, interviews, and registration processes, please follow the announcements of BAU Graduate School of Education.
