Ad Astra Per Aspera.
Perhaps you’ve encountered this phrase—in the solo of an electric guitar, within a Hermann Hesse novel, in Erasmus of Rotterdam’s "In Praise of Folly," or even in the story of astronauts on a Hollywood screen. I have no doubt you feel the emotion behind this timeless expression: “reaching the stars by overcoming difficulties.” But have you ever really paused to reflect on it?
What challenges must we overcome to reach the stars? Is it the relentless advance of technology, the kind that inspires dystopian sci-fi visions? The rigid structures of political economy, from micro to macro? The dizzying pace of global sociological change? The tension between traditional norms and the “lion that lies in our hearts”? Or is it simply that those we love sometimes don’t understand us?
Yes, the world we live in is full of challenges. It always has been, and it always will be. But the stars remain. At BAU, alongside the professional knowledge, academic culture, and practical skills you will acquire, you will also develop the spirit needed to discover your true self, understand the world, and, one day, become a decision-maker.
