Ad Astra Per Aspera.
You may have heard this Latin phrase in an energetic song with an electric-guitar solo; in a Herman Hesse novel; perhaps in Rotterdam's Erasmus' "Ode to Madness", or in a Hollywood movie about the story of astronauts. We have no doubt you understand its meaning: "through adversity to the stars".
Have you ever given this phrase a deep thought? What challenges must WE overcome to reach the stars? Is it the threat of technological advancement as seen in dystopian movies? Is it the issues related to political economy? Is it the dizzying rapid change of the world's sociology? Is it the traditional norms we are expected to align with? Or could it be simply, the possibility that our loved ones may sometimes misunderstand us?
Yes, there are multiple challenges in our ever-evolving world. There always was, and always will be. But so are the stars. Nothing is impossible. Adversity only makes you stronger. In addition to professional knowledge, academic etiquette and skills you will gain at BAU, you will also gain the spirit needed to discover who you are, to understand the world and to become a contributing member of society one day.
