Information Notice on Processing Personal Data – International Students
This Information Notice aims to inform you about how Bahçeşehir University processes your personal data. Topics related to the processing of your personal data are listed below under headings.
- Who is responsible for processing my personal data?
As Bahçeşehir University (“BAU”), we determine how our international students’ personal data will be processed and manage the data registry system. In other words, we act as the data controller when we process your personal data.
- How is my personal data collected?
Our channels and methods of collecting your personal data are stated below:
- Personal data collecting channels Filling out forms in physical environments or sharing your information with us; entering information into student information systems; filling in the communication forms on the website or digital environment; if you contact us via phone, e-mail, social media accounts or BAU WhatsApp line, your personal data is collected through the specified channels.
- Personal data collecting methods Ø Partially automated or non-automated methods provided that it is a part of the data recording system.

As BAU, we process student candidates’ personal data stated below within the country or outside the country:

We also process the health data of our students who provide health reports due to excuses.
- What are the purposes of personal data processing?
We process your personal data for the purposes within the country or outside the country:

Conducting university registration, transfer and registration suspending study/cancellation of registration processes, supporting international students' residence permits, performing orientation activities. |

Conducting education and training activities, conducting course selection/withdrawal procedures, conducting activities for our students’ skills and career development, following students' academic and social development, conducting measurement and evaluation processes, conducting compulsory-voluntary internship procedures. |

Organizing events, fairs, competitions, and activities, conducting student activities, conducting corporate communication processes. |

Purposes in Our Other Activities |
Conducting communication processes; making announcements and information for students, creating and managing digital application user accounts, receiving and finalizing requests and complaints, auditing and reporting our activities, following and executing disciplinary and legal affairs, conducting our activities in accordance with the legislation, giving information to authorized persons, institutions or organizations, conducting financial and accounting processes. |
- Is my personal data transferred to third parties?
We share your personal data with the third parties within the country or outside the country. To whom and for what purposes we transfer your personal data are stated below:
- To conduct our activities in accordance with the legislation, to inform the authorized persons, institutions, or organizations, to fulfill our legal obligations ® Higher Education Institution and Other Authorized Persons, Institutions or Organizations.
- To get support from third parties within the scope of supply of goods or services, to ensure the continuity of operations, to conduct finance and accounting processes ® Suppliers.
- To conduct auditing and reporting, to conduct business partners, to ensure the compliance with Bahçeşehir Group Companies policies and rules ® Business Partners.
Your personal data will also be shared with the person/persons specified in the parent information declaration form, if you authorize them with the form.
- What are the legal grounds for processing my personal data?
While processing your personal data, we based on the legal grounds specified in the Article 5 of the Law on Protection of Personal Data. These legal grounds are explained below with example data processing activities:
- For example, using your information to sign the student registration contract. ⇒ Establishment or performance of a contract

How can I exercise my rights as the data subject?
According to the Article 11 of the Law on Protection of Personal Data, there are some rights granted to the data subjects. In order to exercise these rights, some procedures have been determined in the Communiqué on the Application Procedures and Principles to the Data Controller ("Communiqué"). If you want to exercise your rights, you may send your requests by one of the following methods or other methods specified in the Communiqué:
