PLURIEX will host annual January Writing Retreats to provide scholars with dedicated time for focused writing, reflection, and scholarly exchange. Bringing together researchers from diverse disciplinary and identity backgrounds, the retreats foster cross-pollination of ideas and support the production of high-quality publications in EU studies. Participants collaborate through shared writing sessions, structured feedback, and paired discussions, contributing to a more inclusive and pluriversal understanding of European politics.
Through Epistemic Pluriversality
Each year in the final week of January, PLURIEX will organise intensive Writing Retreats designed to create space for uninterrupted scholarly reflection, collaboration, and writing. Scheduled after the busiest period of the academic calendar, the retreats offer participants the opportunity to step back from day-to-day teaching demands and engage deeply with their research.
The Writing Retreats bring together scholars working on European politics and EU studies from a wide range of disciplinary, cultural, and experiential backgrounds. This plurality enriches academic dialogue, allowing participants to explore EU-related topics through diverse analytical lenses and to contribute to a more holistic and inclusive understanding of European issues. Through shared writing sessions, structured feedback rounds, and paired discussions, participants will refine arguments, synthesise insights, and develop publications that advance epistemic pluriversality in EU studies.
Throughout the retreats, a shared digital workspace will facilitate collective drafting, idea exchange, and iterative feedback. Papers developed during the retreats may contribute to the planned special issue in the project’s final year, while others may be published independently with acknowledgment of the support and intellectual environment provided by PLURIEX.
In its third year, PLURIEX will place particular emphasis on dissemination and impact, including the publication of a high-quality special issue on “Exploring Pluriversal Perspectives in EU Studies: Understanding Knowledge and Policy.” Outputs from the retreats, along with insights from earlier workshops and teaching activities, will also feed into policy briefs, op-eds, and open educational resources shared through the PLURIEX website and partner platforms.
Through these writing retreats and accompanying dissemination efforts, PLURIEX strengthens the visibility, inclusivity, and societal impact of EU studies—bringing academic insights closer to public audiences and contributing to a more plural, informed debate on Europe.
