ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR GRADUATE DEGREE EDUCATION
FALL SEMESTER
This academic calendar has been prepared taking the current conditions into consideration. Making any amendments in the academic calendar and postponing the exams falls under the discretion of the University administration and the Senate. The students, the faculty and the administrative staff may not lay any claim in case of any amendments.
01 April 2019 Monday-13 September 2019 Friday  Admission and registration of International  Graduate students begin for the Fall Semester of the 2019-2020 Academic year. An application acceptance letter will not be sent to International students who have not obtained a valid visa by 16 August 2019. However, application acceptance letters may be sent to students who do not require a visa. All admissions, registrations to the University and financial obligations must be completed by 13 September 2019 Friday. International students must have completed all their visa and University registration procedures by this date.             
12 June 2019 Wednesday TURKISH Language Proficiency Exam for International  students who have been accepted to associate, undergraduate and graduate degree programs in which the medium of instruction is Turkish, but who do not hold a certificate for Turkish Language Proficiency & the announcement of the Exam results.  The Exam will be organized by the School of Foreign Languages. The Written and Speaking Exams are planned to be held at 09:30 and 13:30 respectively and the place of the Exam will be announced subsequently. The announcement for the Exam is to be made by the School of Foreign Languages and (international)  students who would like to take the Exam are required to apply to the School of Foreign Languages. The exam results will be announced on the same day.

12 July 2019 Friday  Deadline for submission of the fully completed forms of the new courses planned to be offered in the Fall Semester of the 2019-2020 Academic year, to the Commission of Education. Proposals for any other new courses will not be put on the agenda after this date.

13 September 2019 Friday Deadline for all Turkish (TC /TR citizens) and International Graduate students to fulfill their financial obligations. If students fail to fulfill these requirements in due time, their systems will be closed during the on-line course registration period, and they will not be able to register for any courses.  
13 September 2019 Friday Deadline for completion of the admission procedures to the graduate programs and the registration of students to the University in the Fall Semester of the 2019 -2020 Academic year. To be able to register for any courses, the students must have been entered into the system.  Therefore admission and registration procedures of all Turkish and International students must be completed before the regular course registration period. 
16 September 2019 Monday  Opening Ceremony for the 2019-2020 Academic year, with the participation of the students in the English Prep Program and the Associate, Undergraduate, Graduate degree programs; their parents and all the other guests. 16-21 September 2019 Monday - Saturday  On-line registration for project, thesis and seminar courses of Graduate students who have fulfilled the requirements for project, thesis and seminar courses. Students who do not register for project, thesis and seminar courses during the regular registration period cannot register during or after the ADD-DROP week. 
16-21 September 2019 Monday-Saturday On-line course registration of all students attending the Graduate degree programs, including International, Erasmus and World Exchange students. 
23 September 2019 Monday   Fall Semester courses begin for all Graduate students.
30 September-05 October 2019 Monday - Saturday ADD-DROP week. Graduate students who have not been able to register for their courses during the regular registration period (16-21 September 2019) and who have a justifiable reason for being unable to do so, can apply to the respective Graduate Schools, together with the documentation of their justifications. The Financial Affairs office will be notified by e-mail to open the system for those students whose justifications have been approved. The system is opened, provided that these students whose justifications have been approved fulfil their financial obligations between the dates (23 September-5 October 2019); and the students themselves are responsible for registering on-line during the ADD-DROP period in the following week. Students are not permitted to register manually by petition. Course registrations are not considered as having been completed by only paying the course fees. Students who have paid their course fees but have not registered on-line for their courses will be regarded as NOT having completed their course registrations for that semester. Registrations for project/thesis courses also have to be completed during this period. After having completed all their registration procedures, students must enter their system and check which courses they have registered for. Students will be regarded as having withdrawn from the courses that are dropped after this date.

02 October 2019 Wednesday  Elective courses for which there has not been sufficient student registration during the ADD-DROP week will be cancelled on 02-October-2019 Wednesday, at (16:00). If a student has previously registered to such an elective course, these students will be regarded as having dropped the cancelled course.  Graduate students who had previously registered to a cancelled course are required to register to another elective course by 05-October-2019, Saturday (until  20:59). Students will not be able to register for any elective courses after this date. Students whose courses have been dropped shall be notified by SMS that they are regarded as having dropped the cancelled elective courses. However, it is the responsibility of the students to enter the system on 03-October-2019, Thursday and check the courses in their programs and see if there are any courses they may have dropped.

15 November 2019 Friday  Deadline for the submission of schedules, personal requirements regarding Fall Semester Final Exams, to the Registrar’s Office. It is not possible to meet any demands made after this date.  
29 November 2019 Friday Deadline for applying to the Registrar's Office to withdraw (W) from a course that the student has registered for in the Fall Semester. Students cannot withdraw from a course after this date. 
06 December  2019 Friday Deadline for the announcement of the Fall Semester exam schedule to the faculty members. Applications for the correction of errors (if any) should be made by 11 December 2019 Wednesday, until 17:00 at the latest. 
12 December 2019 Thursday  TURKISH Language Proficiency Exam for International  students who have been accepted to associate, undergraduate and graduate degree programs in which the medium of instruction is Turkish, but who do not hold a certificate for Turkish Language Proficiency & the announcement of the Exam results.  The Exam will be organized by the School of Foreign Languages. 13 December 2019 Friday Deadline for the project, Master's and PhD thesis advisors to submit the titles of the projects and theses and the names of the students and their programs in written form, together with the names of the recommended committee members  (thesis defence committee recommendation form) to the respective Graduate Schools, in order to form the project and thesis defence committees.

17 December 2019 Tuesday  Announcement of the results of the (14 December, 2019 Saturday) English Proficiency Exam   (on the Internet)  
20 December 2019 Friday Formation of the Project, Master's and PhD thesis defence committees. Deadline for the formation of the thesis, project defence committees for the approved students, by the respective Graduate Schools, in accordance with the academic regulations; and the submission of a sufficient number of printed copies of the theses or projects to the respective Graduate Schools, to be distributed to the committee members.
20 December 2019 Friday Deadline for the announcement of the Fall Semester final exam schedule to the Graduate students   
23-27 December 2019 Monday-Friday Early final exam dates for students who are studying at our University within the scope of Erasmus, World exchange or other similar programs and for our students who will be going abroad within the scope of these programs. The courses of the trips of the students who will be eligible to take these exams and their departure dates of must have been finalised and need to be verified by means of a document from their respective Graduate Schools. NOT all the students going abroad are eligible for these exams. Students can take these exams only if there is an overlapping in their academic schedules. The International Students Office (UOD) is required to submit the list of the students who are eligible to take these exams to the Office of the President by 02 December 2019, Monday at the latest.    
25 December 2019 Wednesday Deadline for distribution of the printed copies of the theses/projects that have been examined and approved by the respective Graduate Schools, to the thesis defence committee members.

02 January 2020 Thursday Last day of courses for the  Graduate programs  in the Fall Semester- except for project and thesis studies.
06 -12 January 2020 Monday - Sunday Final exams for the Graduate courses opened in th Fall Semester of the 2019-2020 Academic year.   
10 January 2020 Friday  (Sending) Acceptance letters to International Graduate students for the Spring Semester of the 2019-2020 Academic year. An application acceptance letter will not be sent to International students who have not obtained a valid visa by 10 January 2020 Friday, however application acceptance letters may be sent to students who do not require a visa. All admissions, registrations to the University and financial obligations must be completed by 29 January 2020, Wednesday. International students who have not fulfilled the required procedures by this date will not be admitted to the university in the Spring Semester.

28 January 2020 Tuesday Deadline for submitting correction of errors  and conversion of incomplete (I) grades to formal grades in the Fall Semester of  the 2019-2020 Academic Year  (until 17:59, at the latest). THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER REGISTRATION OF THE STUDENTS!

SPRING SEMESTER 
05 February 2020 Wednesday   Deadline for Turkish (TC/TR) and International Graduate students to complete their admission and registration procedures and fulfil their financial obligations for the Spring Semester.The system will be closed for students who have not fulfilled these requirements and they will not be able  to register online for any courses during the regular registration period.
07-10  February 2020 Friday-Monday On-line course registration of Graduate students.
